Are gamespots rules too permissive

Ever since I joined gamespot the rules have been strict and I've had to tiptoe around things so I don't get modded. And I've been modded quite a bit, usually for "disruptive posting" (the weirdest thing on my moderation history is "moderator discretion: use google" because I created a topic asking when E3 was).

Now I heard Gamespot users complained and gamespot changed the rules. But I think they may have gone too far to the other side.

I mean this week I have seen the f-word used in forum posts at least twice. Not only that, but there is a topic up regarding rules for posting pictures of women on gamespot and the rules allow (and this is the mod's actual words here) people to post pictures that show someone's "bare ass".

Now when people really piss me off I can tell them how I f*cking feel, and when people who don't like the new rules report me because they still don't have a f*cking grasp of how the rules work I can just sit back and laugh my f*cking ass off at how worked up they're getting over a little profanity.

And the internet's number one function is porn, I highly doubt a little T+A is the end of the world.

The community of Gamespot hasn't changed at all.

Except less people are leaving due to excessive modding. One girl thread isn't going to hurt. I've been on gamespot since 2004 and welcome this change with open arms. If you can't take the f-word like a f*cking adult then you're going to have a hard time living in the real world.

They ARE less strict than before. This was intentional.

They're fine now. It's regulated just enough right now as it is. Other forums you see porn gifs in signatures, tons of language in every other post, etc. but on GS you have elements of that but it's kept at a healthy level. Before discussion was stifled by how strict everything was. Hell I said I wasn't posting in OT anymore prior to the rule change (I know I still did, but not nearly as much).

I like the rule change, less strict, still a bit strict to a degree but I can live with this now. I havent seen anyone attacking one another so I havent seen any change for the worse with the move.
