Hi, we use Unity www.unity3d.com to make mobile games, it's the more versatile and full of online resources engine. The iOS/Android extensions are paid, but there's a FREE version that can make PC/Ma/Web games, which a good thing to do while you learn. You can find help and tutorials everywhere and get help from the irc channel when you need. We made these on Unity, (there are others under development): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEGZTiK-Nk0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz_r33BVCRE Unity is very practical and powerful as you learn it more. Prototypes for small iOS games can be made in less than a day, anything from 8 hours to 20 minutes depending on complexity.

If you are looking to get a grasp of iOS as a beginner, it may be a good idea to check out Treehouse.

Hi! I recommend you to start with a framework that uses LUA as scripting language. It is extremely easy to learn and is quite powerful : Corona SDK This framework is most userfriendly and easy to start with even if you haven't coded anything before. http://www.coronalabs.com Gideros SDK Uses lua as well and includes an IDE. It has better support for graphics. http://www.giderosmobile.com/

There is a Stanford University course on iTunes U which is great. Lynda.com also has a course on Objective-C introduction.
