old 3.5 screen to 4.0 screen developer question...

Hey guys I was gonna get an older 4g ipod touch but I was thinking...if there slowly moving to the new 4.0 screen wont the developers quit supporting the 3.5 inch screen soon and there for the people that wanna keep there old iphones and ipod touches for awile longer will be screwed because the developers will quit releasing newer apps and games and the older itouches and iphones will be left in the dust to force them to get one of the newer ones?

Does anyone know what might happen?

the smaller screen sizes will be phased out eventually, but I wouldn't worry until apple stops selling devices with 3.5 inch screens. Currently, they're still selling the iPhone 4, 4s, and iPod Touch 4th gen. Once they stop selling those, then I'd consider moving on if you're worried about app support.
