new ipad help

Hi, I never own an ipad before nor any apple product (ipod/iphone/apple computer). I was given a gift for an ipad3. What are some free must have apps to get? I already downloaded facebook.

What else is there to get a newbie with zero knowledge to get started.

I'll bump it a bit if it's alright. I am going to grab a $25 itunes card later today or maybe a $50.

can anyone recommend me some very cool games? Also some hidden gems on the app store? Like maybe puzzle or rhythm game.

So Far I am thinking of getting words w/ friends. Also which angry bird is worth getting? I am also thinking of getting Plants vs Zombies and Infinity blade2. lol, I'm really late to the party.
