From near death to becoming the worlds most valuable company. Pretty amazing feat, $665 per share is incredible. Makes you wonder what industry they'll decide to take over next.

A premium 4k or 8k resolution HDTV would be nice.

Some analysts are calling for 1k shares. Wish I'd purchased some in early 2000...

Why? Apple wouldn't manufacture the display, there would be no benefit in having an Apple branded TV. You would only be paying more for the name.

Anyone who took a chance in 2000 and bought some apple stock is now set for life and laughing at the peasants.

I dont think apple will make a TV because they already make the apple cinema display monitors which have had absolutely no serious impact on the market. Apple always differentiates itself with the software but since thats not really an important part of a TV/monitor so it's difficult for apple to succeed.

Apple "only" innovates through software? Did you forget they've been developing and designing hardware for the past 40 years?

I fear that Apple is headed downhill. Without Jobs, they're in trouble. It will take a while for such a massive company to begin to falter, but it will happen. And if they don't fail, they are certainly not going to be at the top anymore. After having read Job's biography it's amazing how hard that guy drove everyone and his company. Hell, after Jobs was ousted Apple fell apart badly. Jobs founded Pixar, made that a huge success, then bought majority shares of Apple and saved his baby in a very short period of time. He was a serious hardass, innovator, and brilliant businessman and Apple's been dealt an enormous blow by his departure and it's only a matter of time before it shows. As an owner of an iPhone I hope this is not the case but fear it will be eventually.

As long as their marketing still works, Apple will continue to sell products. As for a reduction of market share in the phone/tablet industry, it was only a matter of time before competition entered the market. It would be no surprise if there was a drop in sales, especially with Microsoft hitting the tablet industry hard. Tablet's with Windows 8 (x86) and Windows RT (ARM) have all the functionality of a desktop or laptop version of Windows (keep in mind Windows RT might take some more time to grow as developers bring software to ARM).
