my droid 2 has been acting weird lately, freezinf alot, cant click on anything and the screen pressing buttons on its own, gettin kinda mad.

so i deteled a few recent apps i downloaded, pulled the battery. rebooted and seemed to be working fine again, i was a bit relieved.

so today, a few days after, it started acting weird again, freezing, pressing apps on its own (ghoshing i think its referred to as), and shaking back and forwth between screens, so im like ugh and kinda mad again. i havent downloaded any new apps since i deleted the other ones.

so im kinda curious what could cause these problems? im not rooted, i dont have any custom roms installed

from what i tried to look up, i saw that a dirty/greasy screen could be a cause of the screen acting weird and pressing buttons on its own, is that a possible reason for the problems?

or what else it could be?

thanks

Sounds a lot like Malware. This had happened to my Droid before. You probably contracted a virus.

I wish you would stop giving terrible "advice". Get lost.

btw, I notice you haven't posted in the iOS section much lately. Whats wrong, nothing to talk about since you can't make troll topics anymore?

OP: Back up everything with Astro backup, you don't need root. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR APPLICATION DATA IF YOU DO THIS.

Wipe the phone completely, back to factory settings. Reinstall astro, do not restore all your apps, just what you need for daily use for a few days, preferably the amount of time it took for the phone to start acting up between the first and second time. If the phone starts acting up again, there is something wrong with the phone. If not, restore all the apps. If it goes haywire again, you have a rogue app.

Alternately, if you still have a warranty, just...get a new one

Sorry its just that i'm not used to having to go through that horrendous process because of a mere virus, or even worse; faulty hardware. Unfortunately I have to still visit Android boards to stay up to date on Android news. This forum is a great source for OS related news and tips, considering thats pretty much the only discussion found here. Until I drop my Droid when I'm either fired or laid off from my job, I'll be here reading Android articles

You know, I was going to post a long thing explaining why I think you are a laughable person.

Instead, I'm just going to remind you that your entire, well deserved reputation of being an anti-android enthusiast here on these forums is working against you.

Also keep in mind that this is an optional method that can help diagnose the problems that do not exist on certain other mobile OS'. If your device dies, it dies.

Now if you will excuse me, there is pizzat hat requires my attention

Come on guys relax a little, Kid atari, you are welcome to use these boards as long as it doesn't involve an attack of sort to android, no one wants to hear that and posts like that will get moderated for forum invasion. If you are coming here and happy to discuss issues/articles associated with android, or even help out people such as the TC you are most welcome.

Thank you, Mystic. I wasn't trying to start a war. I just told OP it was most likely a virus, I've experienced his issue amongst some friends and even on my own accord.

Coming from someone who actually has a droid 2 faced the same problem etc... its not a virus. Download a touch screen test app and get it running when this is going on, if no fingers appear on the screen (when you're not touching it) the touchscreen is malfunctioning, it happened near the end of my droid 2's life (this wasn't why it happened), it was picking up touch screen input when I wasn't touching the screen I could sometimes fix it by thoroughly cleaning the screen, but for some reason it started happening more frequently after it had started the first time despite cleaning. Now if you don't see touches on the screen while it is messing up do a factory reset after backing up your contacts and any other information you want to keep. Malware on android cannot do this without root access and saying otherwise is flat out wrong. Similar to how a root kit works on a computer. If a factory reset doesn't solve it your phone is probably just about at the end of its life.
