I am really disappointed with local gaming magazines in my country, in fact, they really suck. I could just go for some more digital subscriptions, but I'm one of those helpless tradicionalists and I just love printed word. The smell of paper, holding it in some weird ways with one hand, not to mention some toilet-emergency situations, where no tablet or smartphone would come in handy. That's why I want some good gaming magazine in my mailbox every month. Since GameInformer is not avilable for international subscripton I am thinking about EGM, Edge and GamesTM. And here's my question to you, people from civilized world - which one would you choose or already have chosen? Thanks in advance for any advice and opinion.

Gaming magazines? What is this, 1996?! Screw wasting paper and money on stuff you can get for free online.

Honestly in the US there are only 5 left and 3 of them post so many reviews online that it is pointless to get the mags.

I get Game Informer. I enjoy the magazine but it's not as good as it used to be... And I know some people think game magazines is pointless because it's all online, but like many things I enjoy reading a hard copy. The art is nice too.

Game Magazines are not pointless. Not everybody has internet.

I get gameinformer. In fact I have a HUGE collection of Gameinformer Magazines. All the way from 2002.

I really like Edge and Retro Games they are both interesting and informative. However, I love the PC magazines that we have in Europe: Gamestar and PC Games; both only available in German though.

I rarely pick up Edge or OXM sometimes. It's true that the majority of news is online, but they still have good features/writing.

Anyone who says that print magazines are a waste of money obviously buy the magazines for the wrong reasons. There is a lot more to magazines than just reviews, there are interviews with developers, previews, interaction with other fans via the letters.. You can get a lot more out of a printed magazine than you can from just visiting a website and thats a fact.

Currently I subscribe to Game Informer, OXM and OPM. All three are great reads.

I subscribe to Game Informer and @Gamer magazine. @Gamer magazine is the exclusive Best Buy video game magazine. The @Gamer mag isn't that great, but it does come with coupons for games with anywhere from $10 to $30 bucks off which is great, and some of the coupons are for great games. Out of those 2, I prefer Game Informer.

I agree with you 100%.

I collect video game magazines. I just started collecting them a few years ago. I WISH I had been collecting them for longer, but I threw all my old ones away a long time ago. One of my favorite things to do is to go back to old video game magazines and read the previews, and see which games were really hyped and what not. Reading old video game magazines is a great way to see where the industry was at that time, and what was going on. I would love to have some old Gamepro magazines that feature the SNES and Genesis, with the ads in there for Neo Geo and 3DO for outrageous prices for the hardware and software. Too funny.

EDGE because it is easily the best.

Game Informer, they get previews really early and subscription is super cheap because they are sponsered by EBgames.

Used to read PC gamer, but then I grew up and realised their writing and reviews are actually terrible.

I would also love to hold a physical stuff in my hands related to games and feel totally connected to the gaming world. But here in my country, India, only one mag is availible which demands an online subscription. I need a debit card or so for subs. but i can't pull one out as i'm just 16. It's a good mag, I WANT IT, who knows maybe i'll get a job in their team.

PC Gamer for me. No other magazine around here comes to close to decent content for the PC platform.
