The NES. That's the system I fell in love with gaming on. So it holds a special place in my heart. And the games are relatively cheap and easy to find most of the time. And it seems there's always a gem out there waiting to be found that you haven't played yet.
Without a doubt it's.......Game Boy Advance. It has so many of my favorite franchises, it's portable, and it is basically like having a SNES in the palm of my hand. Most games are cheap (thankfully I already have all of the hard-to-find ones and expensive ones) and the hunt for the ones I still need gets me jazzed up. That generation of handheld just holds a very special place in my heart, even though it came late into my gaming life (I was brought into gaming on Atari and NES).
I only play handheld nowdays and the GBA scratches so many gaming itches for me, not to mention the GBA SP being my favorite hand held console of all time....so small, simple, and tough.
I have a smaller DS and PSP collection, but my GBA collection is quite large.....at least by my standards of large.
Nuon- because there's actually a chance of completing that 5-game collection!
Kidding of course, I'm actually enjoying collecting for the PS2 and Dreamcast.

NES... but more importantly, Ernest was the man... lol I think I have seen every movie he ever starred in like 5000 times :)
It tends to change depending on the gaming mood I'm in, but currently it's the XBOX. It was never been one of my favorite consoles, but it had some great games that I've had a blast trying to find during the past few weeks.

I'd definitely agree with this and the GBA being the best handheld...I have about 25 GBA games and I still want more.
My favorites to collect for, however, are the SNES followed by the Gamecube. The SNES has my favorite genres, RPG and sidescrollers, that are still lots of fun to play to this date. Also, the Gamecube has several underrated titles that are fun to play.
The Super Nintendo, Thinking about even getting a SuperFamicom. I would just have to go to the guy with the shop that charges higher than usual prices. But Snes is my all time Favorite console.

GBA is my favorite system both to play and collect for as well. The games are small, normally pretty cheap and you gotta blow in 'me to get 'em to work just like it's nineteen eighty-eight. My next favorite are the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color games--for collecting, never seem to play those as much. I have about sixty GBA games and forty of both GB and GBC games. I am addicted to shopping for deals on lots on eBay so I wind up w/ a lot of crap but I get a lot of good games too.
Dreamcast, got two collections going, one sealed collection to look at from a distance behind 6 inches of bullet proof glass ;) and one collection for playing.
The Dreamcast.
I started re-buying the old mags I had binned years ago for nostalgia and just started getting others I never got.
