Most fighters follow the arcades, which dont really have gens persay... Unless you wanna keep track of all the cps1 cps2 cps3 taito type whatever.
But If your talking strictly about fighting games that were released on consoles last gen, I guess arcana hearts was pretty interesting, or the street fighter anniversary collection, or perhaphs capcoms vs. snk 2.
Soul Calibur 3 for PS2. The closest thing to a perfect fighting game I've ever played. Tira is love.
1. Tekken 5
2. Mortal Kombat: Deception
3. Soul Calibur III
I've always been a huge fan of the Tekken series, especially after they honed in the fighting mechanics in the third entry. The single player campaign in Deception was great. They should bring back the single player campaign from Soul Edge back to the Calibur series. The varied, themed battles as you navigated around the world kept it interesting. It also felt like the different weapons actually meant something unlike the newer series. The story was great too.
Street Fighter 3 : 3rd Strike on DC, Street Fighter Alpha 3 on DC, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on DC, SNK vs Capcom 2 on DC, and Soul Calibur on DC... hmm... just noticed a few similarities there with regards to the console they were all on!!
DC + Arcade Stick = FIGHTING GAME HEAVEN!!!!
