Games are over $100 in Australia?!

I thought games were expensive here in America at $60.

Well...you have my sympathies...

You could always wait until a game drops in price, I guess.

Of course we would. A $20 increase over say 15 years isn't that much; that would just be about normal inflation.

No i think the public has to say no to these type of price increases...They said no to the ps3 when it was 600 bucks..When they dropped the price to 300 people bought the system..If you over price games and take the little man out..Think thats a bad real bad thng..It also increases people pirating games..Peoplpe are already doing this at 60 imagine what 100 bucks would do..

If games only go up in price by $20 in the next 10 to 20 years, they'll be a lot cheaper than they are now in comparison to the rate of inflation lol. Yeah, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for games, as I only purchase a few at full price anyway. As long as they still sell for the same amount when they hit the bargain bin, I'm fine.

Would I buy games if they cost $10 - $20 more in the future? Sure... I've been waiting for N64 prices to make a comeback. Because - unless you are too young to remember - a lot of N64 cartridge based games cost about $80 NEW.

Complaining now that games are too expensive is pretty funny to me when you realize that we are STILL paying less for games than we did just two or three generations back.

Yes. Games WILL cost more. Also, note that games have NOT kept up with inflation. Nor have they kept up with the increased development costs. ...so games actually cost FAR less than they did during the NES and SNES eras when using 'real' dollars (or actual dollars in many cases)

Yes I would still buy games if they cost more but I wouldn't be able to buy as many games as I do now.

as long as your paycheck keeps up (you keep getting raises), then you should be in the same boat ...unless you get laid off (worse) or get a promotion/better job (better)

1. I wait for price drops

2. Inflation so yeah, everything costs more, as long as I can afford it then it's all good.

I buy very fews games these days anyway so I would just continue to employ the standards I use to decide whether I am getting a game or not.

I mostly rent games now. I only buy games from series that I love, or if it's something that really impressed me by its gameplay footage and whatnot. So I'll probably continue doing that in the future.

I'd sooner buy an $80 game than a $60 with $20 in DRM'd DLC. So yeah I don't mind more expensive games as long as they're all in one package. I don't like buying things I can't touch or do whatever I want with.

Some people are commenting that it wouldn't be such a big deal because your paycheck would *theoretically* have increased proportional to inflation?

Well, if you live in AMERICA, in twenty years, you'll be lucky if you still have a job to go to ... let alone be getting any kind of raise. I can't speak for any other country, but HERE, the cost of living is going to continue to increase whileaverage incomes make meager (if any) increases.

I just wonder what the breaking point will be for game prices when the consumers stop buying.

Honestly I have a hard time justifying to myself the price of them now. I very rarely purchase them at $60 a pop. If it's something I am itching to play as soon as a game is released I'll usually rent it first and beat it, and then pick it up later when it's cheaper. That's what I did for God of War 3 and I just picked it up brand new for only $15.

I recently bought Infamous 2 for full price and while I think it's a great game, it wasn't worth that much money imo.

Like most things...inflation is going to play a part but if they go up too much too quickly, they are going to see backlash...fewer people buying newer, more people looking for older games, or waiting for a price break/sales before jumping in. That being said, I already do that, there are few games I buy at release or soon after.

130 for a game? Nope, but I do see them increasing in due time, but I can never see them selling a reg. version of a game for 100+ dollars u.s.

I would. Games are a massive part in my life, I couldn't just not buy new ones because of a price increase.

If my pay goes up by an equivalent rate of inflation, yes. If not, I guess I'll be going fishing a lot more often.
