Well? Also what is the best IYO?

-

I vaguely remember the BBC Micro version in school, as well as the C64 version me old man owned.

The most enjoyable game was Battle For Middle Earth back when you could buy an EA game without feeling like it was going to be a pyramid scheme.

@Sevenizz: how would you know if you've never even read the books?

I think out was a MUD. Not sure. What sticks better in my mind is the PS2 game series. Kinda meh, but it was fun to run through the world

The Hobbit on Gamecube. I still enjoy the game. The stage where you're in the forest with the wolves I found pretty tricky growing up though. Used to always die.

The Coop in Return of the King on the PS2 was fun. But Shadow of Mordor is my fave now

The Two Towers was my first. absolutely played that game to death.

But I think the best was the first Battle For Middle Earth. I couldnt get in to the second one for some reason

I think I played some action games at a friends house that released alongside the movies. those would be the first. they weren't great

I agree the best LOTR games were the Battle for Middle Earth RTS series. I think I liked the second one more but can't clearly remember distinctions between them.

The first? There was an action-adventure hack and slash game that game out around 2004 (forgot the name), it was all right. I remember it being incredibly hard.

The best? Probably Middle Earth: Shadow of War. I enjoyed the first Shadow of Mordor game, and the second Shadow of War was an improvement imo. There's something so utterly gluttonous and enjoyable about slicing, stabbing, cutting, and otherwise butchering orcs by the hundreds. Torturing them. Enslaving them to do your bidding. Running a campaign of fear like some guerrilla-terrorist.

And the Orc bards are not too bad, either!

I an want to say I also played an obscure LOTR game from Game boy advance or something that went ok but I don't know if that's actually true ... I don't know honestly.
