I honestly thought for the longest time that video games werent scary. Untill I played the Resident Evil Remake on the Gcube. I played the original and all of the sequels but this one was the one that took the cake.

The atmosphere in that game was rediculously spooky and I nearly shat my pants when I first ran into one of the re-animated Zombies. It was the first time I was reluctent to keep playing a game because it was freaking me out. I once actually turned the game off because I ran out of lamp oil to burn the corpses.

What was the first game to give you the chills?

The LEgend of Zelda. Yeah I'm ashamed to say it, but as a kid the Death Mountain Labyrinth scared the pants off of me. The music was intense and the monsters were just mean (damn centipedes). ANd when I saw Gannon for the first time... forget it. I didn't have the Silver arrow so it just didn't end well. The only way I was able to get through the level was to play with the volume off.

Resident Evil 2. I rented it for the N64 when I was around 10 years old, started playing, got eaten by a zombie. It scared me so much that I turned it off and didn't play it again =P

Resident Evil 2. At the time of playing I was only about seven years old at the time playing it on the PS. The zombies scarred me **** The licker in the hallway at the police station did me in though when it killed me. Turned it off and had nightmares that night.

Hmm first game to actually scare the crap out of me would either be Doom 3 or Gears of War at about 3:30 in the morning when its really quiet in the house and all of a sudden some kind of monster jumps out and attacks you.. The beserker on Gears of War was what scared me so early in the morning.. And doom 3 well... Just about any monster scared me lmao...

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the GameCube.

Getting your ass kicked, getting fake error notices, and hearing creepy baby cries is enough to scare anyone at night.

Doom 1 on Playstation. That was the first time I played Doom. That game was freaky with lights off. Enemies jumping out of hidden closets, the strobe-lighted rooms, and that weird music with the babies and goats crying in the background. *shivers* That was the first game to scare me easily. Too bad I've never really had the same experiance again with a game. Maybe I'm getting too old. . . :(

When I was young - definitely Friday the 13th on the NES.....RE2, though it never freaked me out, I got a good story about that one. My cousin was playing it one day in his room, lights out and surround system turned up. The two of us and a third guy just chillin, got to the part where you're in the police station interrogation room. The side of the mirror where you can't see the other side. Picked up the key like nothing and then all of a sudden BAM! Licker jumps through the mirror, I go flying up the stairs, he dropped the controller and got himself killed. I think for a while afterwards I played through that part with the volume down hahaha.

System Shock 2. The atmosphere in that game is really intense, walking around slowly in a dark space ship, with most of your crew members turned into deformed mutant-looking things, especially when they sneak behind you and moan "...Help me..." and other horrific sayings, and it makes it worse having a computer thats your main enemy, but also the closest ally in that dreaded space ship. Back when it was released the graphics and sound in that game were superb, and it made the game even more intense. So yeah, System Shock 2 was the first game to actually scare me, and it still scares me even today.

In RE4, the dogs in the graveyard scare me everytime. Also, that crazy stretchy guy gives me the creeps. The bathtub scene from Eternal Darkness scared the crap out of me, and whenever I go to play REmake, I turn the sound up loud because I want to get scared, but I end up quitting playing after about half hour... I don't think I will ever play that game long enough to actually beat it.

Behind Jaggi...Ahem, I mean Rescue on Fractalus! for the Atari 800/1200XL computers. It was a most excellent game in which you had to fly around and find downed pilots and rescue them. Most were normal human pilots but some were aliens that would attack your ship. The only way to tell if they were aliens is when you saw them running for your ship their faceplate was green.

The problem was that sometimes the way you landed didn't allow you to see the pilot running towards your ship. You could only hear his footsteps approach your ship...then there was a silent pause...and if it was a pilot he would knock on your door politely. If it was an alien though there would be this loud sound as the alien exploded up into you viewscreen and began pounding away at your craft. Scared the living bejeezus out of me the first time I played it and was unaware of this fact.

I mostly do FPS games.

I recently tried Command and Conqure.

First time was against a n00b like me and was an even match as we learned how to set-up the game and some basic stratagies.

Then I got in the middle of an on-line game.

Didn't last more then 5 minutes - I was so overwhelmed, I s8t my pants!!

Earned my respect for RTS gamers - it's not so easy!!

The Shadow temple used to give me the willies as a kid, still is kinda eerie though. Silent Hill has given me a few scares, as did Doom 3.

The first game to scare me was OoT as a kid. Those hands in the Forest and Shadow temple were creepy. But what I truly hated were the zombies. As soon as you aproached one, Link would freeze and you heard this unpleasant "Arrrrghhh..." from the zombies as they aproached you..
