What are some great epic rpgs for ps1?

OTHER RPGS WORTH TO MENTION:

azure dreams-a game that is a mix of pokemon and dungeon crawler that isn't a game for everyone and is never really great but somehow interesting enough to try and play for hours and hours

legend of legaia: an average rpg that somehow manages to be entertaining

and tactical games with a little bit of rpg elements are:

vandal hearts(only the first one)

front mission 3

For me...

Suikoden 1 and 2- they are very different from normal RPGS, in every game theres an optional 108 characters to recruit and lots of different endings and side quests etc.. not that great graphics though..

Now for PS2.. I could mention loads.. lol, but yeah.. suikoden for the PS1, classic.

To be honest I tried Legend of Dragoon a few weeks ago and found it really boring :S

Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, and Breathe of Fire III

How could you guys not mention Valkyrie Profile! One of the most incredible games of all time. Though I havent played them, I'm surprised no one mentioned Lunar Silver Start Story or Lunar Eternal Blue, I thought they were good games.mohmaaytah

not really a RPG but more like a zelda game.... a zelda game with an actual epic story one of the best stories ever written for a videogame.

Legacy of Kain Blood omen

the only legacy of kain game that i ever liked. and it was absolutely epic. some of the best writing and voice acting ive seen.

Lunar Silver Star Story: Complete it is the ps1 version of the original Genesis game and it is pretty damn good hope you can find it.ThumbTwitcher

PS1 was my favorite system because it had so many RPG's and I discovered so many of my favorite games because I'd simply just take it off the shelf and buy it w/o ever knowing anything about it.

Oh, and I loved Xenogears, greatest story in any jrpg. Although I hated the last boss (usual Squaresoft cheap-endboss).

I love RPG's but I didn't like LoD
