I hate this 3D fad, it doesn't even work that well. It's completely unnecessary to make games in 3D, playing video games the way they are now is fine. 3D is a waste of money.

Not if it just means splashing out more money for the games, the consoles and the tech to play them on. They take that route and I'm going back to the PS2.

3D is a technology from the 80s, pointless to bring back a gimmick.

Well let's just say this.. I watched Avatar, and forgot it was 3d 15 minutes into the movie, and not being distracted by the visuals (didn't even like the CGI), hated the movie. I don't want to spend more money on some half-arsed technology that I'm not even going to notice after awhile. It's one of those "WOAH" things that lasts like 10 minutes and contributes nothing afterwards. And nobody wants to wear those glasses.

Personally, I think 2D has a more clear image at the movies. 3D looks all grainy and while still a decent picture, it just is a waste of time that could be put to better use with making more to put in the movie / game.

I don't think I'm getting a 3d tv ever until they come out with the next BIG thing like how we went from standard def to high def. Maybe it will be 3d to hologram?

Games are inherently 3D, so yes. Eventually a new control mechanic will be added that allows the player to move like never before. The "screen" won't exist any longer.

Of course it all depends on whether or not 3D takes off.

*Shrugs* Haven't seen a game in 3D yet. I'm not opposed to it, though I think acceptance is years off (the technology is still expensive, we are in the middle of a recession and people who have just bought hdtvs probably aren't going to buy new tvs in the next few years).

I don't really care. I've been fine without 3D thus far. but if a game includes it and implements it well, then why not?

I'd prefer playing my game without having to wear goggles. But I would actually have to play a game in 3D to make a proper decision.

i vote double yes. i have always liked the 3D stuff and games have the option to turn it on and off (not sure about attack of the movies 3D) its a great idea no matter how old. and its not really old.. 3D was always for the cinema. now it is being brought to the home and our games.. i love it, and it is just the next stage in technology.. though i would have liked a VR fad instead.. would pay daily for playboy channel then lmao

No, graphics are limited by the consoles dated hardware enough as it is. No need for 3d to lower the quality even more.

Same here, the detail on various objects and characters in a movie are better when its not on 3d.

Being as how I have yet to see a movie in 3D or play a game in 3D, I don't have any knowledge base to accurate make a statement as to my beliefs.

YES, but it should never be REQUIRED to play ANY GAME in 3D.....3D should be an OPTION.

I agree with this. In some games I think 3D would be cool, but to make them all 3D would be unnecessary. It would just take more time to develop a game.

I'm not into 3D, but as long as developers remember that gameplay makes a game good, it's a novelty that might be worth it once in a while.

There's absolutely no chance that I'll ever spend $2,000, or even $1,000 on a 3-D TV, so none of it interests me at all. I suppose it would be neat for some games, assuming it works well, but the cost / benefit ratio doesn't even come close to making it worth thinking about.

Yeah, but new tech starts somewhere. Look at how overpriced the ipad is? This is a $500-800 device that is going to be upgradeable twice a year eventually. Apples plan is probably to get the price to the sub $200 range, so that constant upgrades aren't as big a deal. The same applies to 3d tv and games. You don't think the prospect of controlling games in 3D is sort of neat? Manipulating objects infront of the tv and beyond? That would open up a lot of new gameplay experiences.

I agree that it should be optional. I do, however, want my games in 3D. I really like the effect. I suggest you guys go check out your nearest SonyStyle store. They have 3DTVs running with a clip that shows sports, movies and games (Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Wipeout HD). Motorstorm looks amazing!

I'm very excited for 3D and will definitely be one of the first adopters when TV programming starts to become available.

I've read that Dragon Age: Origins has been played with a 3D LCD monitor that looked awesome. They were talking about details about how you could really see DEPTH and COLOR when playing the game and running around. I for one think that this tech has a very solid place in a PC environment, but not as much on the consoles.

My reasoning: PCs you are always a lot closer to and it is much easier to get your head into what your looking at without seeing the border areas.

I personally would love to game in 3d, on a PC. I think on a console it would look poor depending on the TV size and how far away you sit, as well as having to deal with clunky controls on console controllers. Witha PC it's much more intuitive to move around at least IMO.

3D could do more for gaming than this motion sensing bs fad we have at the moment.

I watched avatar both in 3d and blu ray, it looked better in blu ray, 3d made it loose quality on the surfaces.
