Confirmation can be found here.

Map and Game Mode

Goldrush

In the new game mode, one team must escort a small mining cart through a series of Dustbowl-like map segments. The cart moves faster the more Blue players are near it, but stops entirely if even one Red player is in range. Blue have to escort the cart all the way to Red's headquarters within a certain time limit.

Weapons

The Blutsaugher
For players that earn one third of the 36 new medic achievements, they will be given a new syringe gun. Called "The Blutsaugher," this new weapon no longer has the ability to score critical hits against an opponent. Instead it will draw health from enemies each time a syringe hits. Especially useful as a weapon to retreat away from the fight while staying alive.

The Critzcrieg
Once a medic has earned two thirds of the achievements, they will be granted "The Critzcrieg." This new medigun uses its ubercharge not for invulnerability, but to give its recipient 100% chance to fire critical ordinance. Medics and the player they are charging need to be careful though, because as much fun as it is to fire critical rockets as fast as you can, the other team will see what you're up to and try to put a quick stop to your plan.

The Ubersaw
For the determined medic that has earned all 36 of the new achievements, they will find themselves the proud owner of "The Ubersaw," which will take damage done in melee attacks and convert it directly to ubercharge. Four hits with this new weapon will fully charge whatever medigun the medic has equpped.

Eventually. This particular update is focused on the Medic, though.

Im looking forward to this update, i'll be playing TF2 all week, though with the updates everyone will go medic to get the achievements lol.DJJC

Should be heaven for Heavies.

By the way, did you guys check those achievements out? Some are just brutally hard. Trauma Queen (deploy 3 uber-charges in less than 5 minutes, and assist in 5 kills during that time) is just insane. But they're actually cleverly organized - about one third are relatively easy (required for the first weapon unlock), one third are somewhat reasonable (second weapon) - but only Medic Masters will get the Ubersaw, it seems.

What do you guys think about the weapons? What seems better - invulnerability or 100% chance of crits?

Flipping awesome update. I'm curious to see how the new Gold Rush mode works, but it sounds fun. And yeah, some of those medic achievements are insane.

Consultation: Assist a fellow medic in killing 5 enemies in a single life. - Sounds like something you'd really have to reach for, while your teammates yell at you.

Does It Hurt When I Do This?: Kill 50 scouts with your syringe gun. - I'd estimate that at my current pace I'd get this one in about 10 years.

Peer Review: Kill 50 medics with your bone saw. - Maybe 1 year for this one.

Big Pharma: Assist a heavy in killing 30 enemies where neither of you die. - I'd have to find a heckuva Heavy to pull that off. I consider myself a fairly good Heavy player and the most kills I've ever had is 19.

You'll Feel A Little Prick Assist in killing 4 enemies with single uber-charge on a scout. - Better hope for a critical shotgun streak.

Placebo Effect: Kill 5 enemies in a single life while having your uber-charge ready, but undeployed. - Living on the edge!

Chief of Staff: Accumulate 10 million total heal points. - ...That'll take a while.

Second Opinion: Uber-Charge 2 teammates at once. - Uh, how do you even do that?

I hope this stuff comes to the 360 version, but I hope MS doesn't charge us for something that's free elsewhere.

I doubt it will be released for the 360 version since VALVe is against charging for updates and MS would most likely force them to charge money for something that should be free.

The Source engine really isn't that demanding, a decent PC and a little money can get you the definitive version of the game.

Can't wait to play this game again! So, the game will only unlock achievements only if you have the Medic class?

Yeah, some of those will be almost impossible for most people to pull off, but it'll be fun to see how far I can get without thinking about them.

Oh, and to uber two people at once...just put it on one player, then select another, and go back and forth *realtively* quickly. The uber stays on a target for a few seconds after you release it on them, so you have to time giving it to two peeps.

Yeah, as if you actually play TF2. You haven't even logged into Steam for 5 days.

I'll be playing some Disciples II and Team Fortress 2 later on, so hit me up with a message if you come on.

I'll post some impression on the new map and mode later.

Someone has a death wish, I think. :P I'll try to log on a bit this afternoon, but don't come to me whining after being burnt to a crisp.
I totally suck at trash-talking, especially when taking into account that Flames could actually run in circles around me and still manage to kill me.
I'll manage that for you:

Both map and mode suck, I died. Repeatedly.

There.

...

Seriously, while I couldn't pay much attention to the map itself, trying to avoid geting killed and all, the new game mode is really fun. Too bad I could only try it for 30 min. I'll try to play some more tomorrow morning.

Ok, so I've played the map for a while and...it's really good. Perhaps it's too early to tell, but it could turn out second only to Dustbowl. It's definitely as hectic and intense as Dustbowl--if not even more--and there are plenty of little passages from which players can sneak up on each other from the back. The focus is on the tracks as you fight over the control of the cart, but there's plenty of action to be had in the buildings that accompany the train tracks.

Of course, since this update also saw new content for the Medic, there seems to be a bucketload of Medics at all times - some of them doing nothing but crazy stuff in order to unlock achievements. But it's great fun nevertheless and perhaps it'll be even better once the Medic hype wears off. Definitely looking forward to playing more - especially after Badlands and Well CTF turned out to be major garbage.

I kinda wish Valve had waited a little longer until they had a few more classes with the same bonuses introduced for the medics. I have yet to really try out the new stuff because every single team I've been on usually has three medics at least. I suppose in a few weeks this won't be such a big deal though. I'm really looking forward to the next class updates.

Man, this medic update is annoying. I have no problem with a lot of medics, but most of them are inexperienced players just trying to get the achievements. I had several medics with ubers spontaneously leave me while I was wading out into a bunch of enemies today. *bangs head against wall*

Every time I've ever tried playing TF2 on Xbox Live the servers have been empty. Not one other person on planet earth in a quick-ranked or quick-unranked match search. Not even on a Saturday night. It basically ruined the Orange Box. And I bet I actually would have liked the game if it were playable. The graphics look so cool too. I guess the fact that it was launched against Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Unreal 3 (on PS3 and PC), the already going strong Gears of War, Bioshock, and that the package doesn't include the whole first part of the Half Life story or the pivotal Counter Strike on the console versions... all had a factor in it.

I hear ya on that one...every team I've played on has been half medics anad how you described them...is basically what they do. >_>

Very annoying and now it seems like every server I join everybody isn't actually playing..they're just achievement farming.
