As part of the only on PSN program, with Plus members receiving a beffy discount on Only on PSN games, including the PS2 games, which are priced at a very reasonable $9.99 for all. (shockingly reasonable, really, I expected higher) You can read about it here. The games are Ring of Red, (talk about obscure!) GrimGrimoire, OdinSphere, Maximo: Gosts to Glory, and GOD HAND. (one of the most misunderstood and underappreciated action games of all time) No trophies or other enhancements, as with PSone classics, they are presented as is with only the basic upscaling the PS3 does.

I guess now we know why PS3 lost PS2 BC, but kept the ability to make PS2 virtual memory cards. All this on top of Chrono Trigger PSone classic, Crysis, and more. Tommorow is a packed day on PSN! (and I'm officially going to have made back my fifty buck investment in PS Plus and then some)

Cool. Love how their only $10 a pop. I was thinking they would have priced them at $20 when I first heard about this. Kind of a shame they won't be in full HD, but hey -- obscure games! Those are always fun to check out every now and then.

Might pick up Odin Sphere at some point. I never did give that game a fair shake when it came out way back in '07. Always felt bad about that.

I should note that in my hurry to get this posted I failed to mention the price confirmation was by sources of Destructoid, and are not official.

I have a B/C PS3, but I don't have Grim Grimoire or Odin's Sphere (both of which sell on Amazon for twice what PSN is asking for them) so I'm interested.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ring of Red to strategy game fans. Kind of like Valkyria Chronicles, its well made and plays like nothing else out there.

Ring of Red was dynamite. I'd buy at $10 if I didn't already own the hard copy.

Good stuff! My BC PS3 broke a while ago so I'm happy about this.

One thing though, I haven't heard of any of these games. Was I just out of the loop when they were released?

I hope eventually they have Fire prowrestling returns. I doubt it though.

This is good stuff - I'm especially eager to try God Hand. That said, is this going to be a global initiative? Or will Europeans be left once again to go fun themselves?

I think I read this is NA and Brazil only right now. even Japan was left out! I gotta say, right off the bat, you download any of these, turn on the smoothing option post haste. I booted up God Hand, and the jaggies were cutting my eyes! Still a great ball bustingly challenging game, though. The feature is gonna need stability patches though, it seemed to lag when exiting a game, and my controller had to be plugged in once I started too, because the system wouldn't recognize it otherwise. But once the smoothing was on and I actually played the game, it was all good in the hood. The really great thing is this feature should be updated more frequently and with better games than the PSone games, as the licenses for these games are in many cases still in effect, and fewer in numbers all around. Which is really exemplified by the high quality of the first batch of games. Looking forward to seeing Dragon Quest 8, FF12, and a few others not already getting the HD collection treatment, soon, I hope.

I was really, really worried for a moment!!! Even more so as it would be really sad as I have a few PS1 and PS2 games I've yet to finised, Odin Sphere is among them. But anyway, back on topic, it is really nice that there are PS2 classics at $10. I still prefer hard copies though.

You think that's sad? I got at least 50 plus PSX and PS2 RPG's I have yet to finish.

Right there with you. I have about 20 on PSX plus PS2, about 50 on Xbox, about 8 on PS3 and about 35 on 360. Damn responsibilities. I don't think I'll ever finish them all, but it's nice to have them as a collection. I just recently purchased back FFVII, Vagrant Story and Silent Hill, I don't even know why I sold them so many years ago in the first place and they are in "like new" condition. Hopefully they will be worth a lot of money some day, seeing how digital distribution is taking off the way it is.

We can only hope. They're slow at releasing all their good PS1 games.

The problem with PSone games are the outdated licenses on many different aspects of the games. Sometimes tracking down all the right people is just too much of a hassle, or not cost effective. (the kind of problems that have ruled out ever seeing Mega Man Legends on there) PS2 games are much more recent, so it's simply easier going getting them arranged for digital delivery.

I already have Odin Sphere, but that's good they made it available on PSN, I hope publishers get a clue and follow suit with their PS2 games.

They need to roll the games out quicker, even the psx games at that. Why is there no Battle Arena Toshinden? That was a crucial psx launch title.

I'm hoping the ps2 games just get flooded---I certainly missed a lot of them.

If they did that I would be inclined to buy them and sell off my originals.
