Sales: Did Microsoft just lock in Holiday 2009 in the US ......at TGS?

What''s up guys, it's been awhile since I have been on these boards. Boy have they changed.

And no that's not a typo. With GOW2 and the recent price drop, this year would play out in a pretty expected manner. But going through the TGS news stories, it's looking like FFXIII and now Tekken 6 and Halo 3 recon will all hit holiday season 2009? Holy crap! The year hasn't even started yet.

If they all 3 hit the same month, that month would be a GTA game short of causing a sales market overload of some sort.....and that could very well be a possibility by next year.

FFXIII doesn't have a release date and Tekken is not a mind blowing franchise.

And they are both coming to other platforms.

And Sony hasen't announced their Fall 09 lineup, neither has Microsoft

No,Halo 3 Recon is the only exclusive game on your list.. I never understand why people assume things like this, the only big exclusive on your list is Halo 3 Recon, we have no clue what PS3 and Wii have in store for next year.

It's hard to say who's gonna lock 2009 when we dont even know Sony's lineup in fall 2009. Like others mentioned, two of the three games you mentioned are also coming out on the PS3. Plus, those two titles have been exclusive to the PS consoles for a good decade or so; people tend to associate Tekken and FF with the PS brand so the sales probably will be equal on both the 360 and the PS3.

If I had to guess, like you did in your OP, I'd guess that Uncharted 2, God of War 3, GT5 and the next Team Ico game will also see release dates in holiday 2009 which is a far better exclusive lineup than a Halo 3 expansion.

But then again, MS will definitely have more than just a Halo 3 expansion and considering we dont even know who's going to "win" 2008's holiday season, there's no reason to talk about Holiday 2009.

Release dates can change and I don't see the Halo game being as big of a seller as the previous 3.

dude, the holiday season is always packed, just look back at this season. And think of some better games to mention, tekken 6, come on, im sure it will be ok, but fighting games dont sell that great.
