Does anyone else enjoy the original Super Smash for N64 more than Melee or Brawl? I have no idea why, but I have a much more fun time playing it on the N64. Maybe because it's more slow paced or something... I don't know.

How about you guys? If not then which is your favorite?

Nostalgia always gets me. I enjoy the original far greater than either Melee or Brawl. Probably because I have played it the most.

Me and my friend have this epic rivalry between Captain Falcon (me) and Samus. Good times..

I just wish my controllers didn't completely suck so I could play this again.

I enjoy Melee the most, but that's because I have the most nostalgia for Melee... and the Dream Land stage in the original, but that's included in Melee anyways.

The N64 version is the best out of all of them (IMO).

It's plain, simple, and straight to the point.

WOW, this is very suprising to hear. I got the original when it first came out and HATED it. I like melee the best. I guess it's because the only experience with the first one I remember is my friend always using Link and doing the spin attack and killing me. Plus the first character I felt a kin with was Marth in Melee.

i've only kinda tasted brawl, i liked the n64 game, but melee is my fav. i do really enjoy the epic adventure mode in brawl the best out of any mode on any of the smash brothers games.

I haven't played the original SSB for years...I remember when I first got that game I must have practiced in Training mode for 5 hours. :? I have Melee and now Brawl. I find that I like Melee the best, but I still miss that damn tornado that appeared in the Hyrule level in the original SSB game.

I never really liked Super Smash Bros at all. I think that it is quite bad from a fighting game perspective.

The original is definitely my favorite out of the three. For some reason i feel like it takes more skill than the other ones even though that probably isn't the case. Plus I am much better at the first one so that helps a little bit with my opinion of it being the best. Captain Falcon FTW!

Even though two sequals have been released, it is still my fav of the three. It is so original and simple, you got to just bask in its overwhelming awesomeness.

Melee is the best. I think in part since I have too many memories with it in the 7 years of before Brawl.

I've played it pretty recently. It's a fun game, great game actually. Both Melee and Brawl improve upon the original formula in some way, but it's always fun to play the original. Plus, the original seems to have a more distinct style; an all-around different feel.

My favorite character is Marth, so my favorite SSB will of course be Melee... not mentioning the fact that it's the only SSB game I bought and that I got all the trophies in it except maybe two or three extremely tough ones.

For me, Melee was the best game in the Smash Bros. series. I have played countless hours of that game and is only rivaled in playtime by UT 2004. The original for the N64 was pretty good, but the controllers for the N64 were a real let down for me especially due to their less than respectiable durability. Don't even get me started on Brawl; it is an insult to the Smash Bros. series and even made me sell my Wii... but that is a story for another time. But, back on topic, the original Smash Bros. for its time was an amazing game and one of the few N64 games I still play today.

Indeed. Melee was too broken for me. I didn't get into it until much later, but when I did my friends would always woop me with Fox and their so called "advanced techniques", which are just exploiting the broken game.

It was fun as a kid, but nowadays when I go back to it, people just spam certain moves cause it's the most effective way to play. It pretty annoying if you can't play back. Talk about stunlock.. Anyway, melee and brawl has airdodge which helps alot. Melee is too fast paced imo, and you don't feel like you smash something as much as in the N64 version. Haven't played the Brawl version that much since I don't own a Wii, but it's by my experiances the best. I don't see what's so fun about wavedashing that makes people go back to Melee.

The original seemed to have more "oomph" behind a lot of the moves. Link's spin and Fox's blaster were the hardest, cheapest and most spammed moves to get by at times.
I liked most of the original's stages, especially Saffron City, Hyrule, and the Mario stage (the one with the warp-pipes and pow blocks). I would have preferred remakes of those compared to some of the later stages in the games.

Wavedashing was never fun, since it was done by people who cared more about winning and being considered a "pro" than actually having fun. It also makes for some annoying videos too when people would film the TV itself and all you hear is the damn clicking, but it is better than some crappy "rock" band's music.
