I'm just getting into games on my PC,and my brother got me into Steam it's defiently a must for gaming on the PC.They have great specials too,I don't think I'll ever buy another PC game from a game store again.
thks for the feedback. Unfortunatley I purchased Gamespy first not knowing about steam. Gamespy just in my short time using it seems clunky, cost me $$$, and I keep getting all sorts of ads that cause "script error" messages. I just downloaded and created an account on Steam. And already it seems better.
So thanks again.
Steam is mandatory for any PC gamer, even if you don't like digital downloads (like me). It offers crazy deals, makes it easy to download demos, and automatically updates your games to the latest version.
GameSpy isn't really necessary, but you will need it to play multiplayer in a couple of games.
If you don't like the idea of digital downloads, there's a good chance that Steam can change your mind. It did for me, lol.Steam is mandatory for any PC gamer, even if you don't like digital downloads (like me). There are more but these are the ones you should use (most of the time):
Steam (overall cheap deals / community stuff)
GoG (Older games)
D2D (Kinda like steam - alot of stuff) :P
Steam made me love digital downloads. In the Christmas sales alone, I have overnight turned into almost exclusively DD. Looking back, I bought almost all of the big releases of 2010 retail (BC2, ME2, CODBO, SC2) amounting to $250+ on day one, during the Steam sales I got 17 titles (4 fairly new, from this year) for about $68 (that's the price of Black Ops in CAD).
I cannot wait for next year. That is all.
