Yeah I think it just depends on the when the console was manufactured more then if it's an Elite or not. I just recently picked up a new 360 about a week ago because I just got fed up with my initial 360's failing DVD drive which was just getting worse and worse on being able to boot up games on. I picked up the Arcade bundle and the manufacture date on it is Sept. 18th 2007. It is quiter then my initial system and also has less heat coming out the back of it. It also has an HDMI port so I'm thinking that this is because they are using the newer 65nm chipsets which I think all the 360 models are using now although I'm not 100% sure.
