What do you think?

False: The DS (handheld) is more powerful than the NES (console).raahsnavj
What on earth are you talking about? This is easily the most ignorant comment I have heard in a long long time. How about you check your facts first?
CPU: NES 1.7MHz, DS 67MHz
RAM: NES 2KB , DS 4MB
Need I go on? I tell you what, stick to games, leave the technical stuff.
Now for a more reasonable answer, no you can't have a portable that is as powerful as the console of its generation or indeed a generation earlier in cases because of the technical issues involved. the CPU and GPU sizes, thermal envelopes and power requirements are not interchageable. You would have to wait until that technology can be manufactured to provide the same output at a lower thermal envelope, lower power requirements (battery) and size. That said the PSP is rather impressive for what it does but it does not beat the PS2 due to those issues above.
It's not a matter of power, it's a matter of cost. If companies wanted to, they could make a handheld with the power of the 360 or PS3. The reason we don't is because the technology doesn't exist (because companies have not developed it yet) or it would be too expensive for the market. No company is going to make a handheld that nobody will be able to afford.
Personally, when I was a kid, I never thought I would see a hand-held go 3-D. Just look at the DS and PSP. The future is now, people.
The way I see it the PSP and the PS2 were concurrent systems (and still are technically) and the PSP is just as powerful as the PS2. I'll get pseudo-flamed for that, but that's my opinion.
Some analyst was talking the other day about how we won't have "set-top" consoles in the "future" how it will all be hand-helds that interact with TV's when you want the big screen experience. Who knows.
I couldn´t say Handheld games aren´t as much fun as console-game...after all it´s all about gameplay.THe hundrets of rip-offs aren´t as good as the originals, but Original Games are another question. If the programmers do well it´s possibel...but they usually don´t.
From a technical Point of View,I´d say no.On one point because of the size of the Handhelds,on the other side they whould be much more expensive then a Home-Console which whould be tough to sell.Plus you can´t cool the systems that easy,so you couldn´t even simply a GeForce 8800-Chip in a Handheld...
