For some reason, I just LOVE games that have characters that allow you to double-jump. For some reason, that simple game-mechanic feels very satisfying to me (as long as the double-jump move isn't completely broken). I'm a weird guy.

So for fun, to educate me, and to humor me; give me suggestions and build me a list of games that use the double-jump mechanic, please.

Oh wow, that's potentially a really long list so I'll just name one of my favourites. DMC 3.

Ahhh, the double jump, I love the double jump, I adore the double jump. It was strange the first time I saw it and that was during my transition from PS1 to PS2. I think the first game for me was Devil may cry and then Ratchet and Clank after that I think. I was so long ago its hard to remember, now pretty much every action adventure 3rd person RPG game uses it. But for me Devil May cry did it best.....

Ape Escape and Sonic 3 & Knuckles immediately come to mind in terms of platformers.

I'm not a big fan of double jumps. Got nothing against them, I just think they're weird, and platformers are just generally better without them. But some games I love do have them, such as Devil May Cry (as an upgrade), which was already mentioned a few times. There is also Smash Bros. which uses the feature incredably well. As for other games that have it...

Glover

Ratchet and Clank

Yoshi's Story

That's odd. I figure I'd be able to come up with more. I feel like so many games I have played have it, but that's all I can come uo with right now.

True, Sonic 3 and Knuckles has one too. I usually don't don't think of that one though because it's only a temperary power up. But yeah, the double jump is present. And I love it in that game.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the SNES (Flash-based emulation playable here)  has a rather interesting implementation of double jumping:

Once you've launched into the air, you ordinarily have no control over the character's movement until you land again.  You can, however, change direction when you execute the second, mid-air jump.  So double-jumping represents your only opportunity to change your trajectory once you're airborne.

I love the series to death, but if there's one thing I think could use work in the series, it's the double jump. If you time it even a bit late or early you're dead. And Emerald, here's a nice list http://www.giantbomb.com/double-jump/3015-1/

Best double jumping in a game ever IMO is in Megaman and Bass. Bass' double jump is just so satisfying to me for some reason.
