Famitsu (scores) Halo 3, Coded Arms Contagion and Bass Fishing

I was just looking over these scores on another forum and have to say Im pretty shocked at how good the scores for Halo 3 are (though if memory serves Halo & Halo 2 also scored quite well). I think despite the score this means little for the Xbox 360 in Japan, its nice to see the game is good though! Hah!

yeah I remember Forza 2 receiving a really good score, but we're only talking about Famitsu, there are only a small percentage of people that listen to game critics as it is. Oh and I think Mark Smith is wrong, Halo 3 will probably score a 9 also...Famitsu gave 9's to Forza 2, and GS also gave it a 9 I believe...I don't know where you're getting this logic that Famitsu's scores are always higher than GS's, thats entirely inaccurate.

Yeah, I'm sure that the 360 gets a small boost from being the "cult" system in JP. I can see how it would have that elite cache in the hardcore gaming community (over there).

why can't it just be that the 360 sports a lineup of superior quality, although the other consoles are getting a little closer.

why can't it just be that the 360 sports a lineup of superior quality, although the other consoles are getting a little closer.

I'm not suggesting the game is not worth the score it received, only that cult systems appear to benefit slightly from their 'outsider' status when it comes to critical reception (a half point here and there). It's an admirable thing, I know I'd do it. (All of this in the context of the 360 in JP).

I guess I see what you're saying, I think that one of the reasons I cherish my DC so much is because it was very much a cult system, and the 360's numbers in Japan are even worse than the numbers the DC put during the latter part of its lifespan.

Famitsu also revealed that Metal Slug 7 will be coming out for the DS. Between this, Contra 4, Bangai-o, it's Shmup heaven.

It's not the fact that the Japanese don't like them it's the fact that nobody knows about them.

Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty 3 = Disgaea, Persona 3, and Ar Tolerico.

Basically.

There aren't any serious Western publishers, actually I should be saying any at all *besides EA* that actually publish their games in Japan, so the big games here get handed down to smaller publishers like Spike that play the role that Atlus does in America.
