i really don't mind. the other week i was playing ratchet and clank up your arsenal online and someone called me a noob.no big deal for me i know i stink but i like to play and you think he would know i'm a noob seeing my one bolt rating and the max you can get is 4 bolts(i've only played online around 10 times). so no it really doesn't bug me.

and if anybody ever plays andd me to your buddie list if you want i usually go by the name Steve Urkel or my clan name {EXP}STVE URKL

I don't really mind. I just think that it is stupid because we all had to be a "noob" at one point or another. I really don't like it when people won't help you or won't teach you how to play because you are a "noob". We all have to learn and it is like you said I just like playing the game.

I never get that. I prove I'm not a noob by showing that I know what I'm doing, so it never comes up.

Not really. Most of the time, when someone gets called a noob (short for "newbie" or "someone that is new"), it's by someone who isn't - someone who has been at whatever game for a long time and knows what they're doing.

Same. And anytime someone does rarely beat me in whatever game, they have a difficult win and I congratulate them- sportsmanship is important I think.

It doesn't bother me at all when I am a noob. But you know one thing I have noticed, when playing games online, if you harass people they will call you names and bad words and stuff. Whenever you harass people on runescape online, people just call you a noob whether you are good or not. I start forgetting the meaning of the word.

Depends on the context.

I am really good at GunZ the Duel and naturally upset players who are not as good. I never insult anyone and usually say nothing at all. But some of these players get mad and call me a "n00b" despite my 5 kills to 1 death ratio. In that case it pisses me off.

I love when I'm playing Halo online (as in 1 for the PC) and someone calls me a noob because I killed them. I always joke around about it.

*You killed sombody*

Sombody: OMG you noob!

You: Your right! by killing you I am a noob! thanks for the enlightment! I should try to be more like you and run in stright lines, or use a sniper at close range!

Sombody: noob!

*You killed Sombody*

Sombody: WTF! YOU NOOB! YOU'R A NOOB!

You: Your right! I am a noob! but what dose that make you? I killed you, so are you less then a noob?

Sombody: I'm a pro!

good times, goooood times.....

I like being called a "noob" as it's usually just my friends ribbing me. :) "ZOMG TEH NOOB!"

It really depends . If I make a mistake, a human mistake and Im called a n00b , or being called a n00b simply cause im lvl 3, and the other person is lvl 60 it does bother me a bit . But I dont really mind it that much as to start a fight over it .

Someone who is new . For example it might be that you have 3 post's and you are lvl 3. The other guy that called you a noob, must have been a higher lvl, or had bigger post numbers ;) catch my drift .

Nope I don't mind being called a noob. Most people who use that word have some issues with themselves.

I almost started a Clan "Proud Union of N00Bs" just to make fun of it.Yeah I´m an Online-Gaming N00B (which means Newbie),but for most people it´s just another word for looser.

Funny thing for me : I often got called a n00b after I have beaten someone...even if more than once.Even without cheap tricks. Then it´s a bit getting on my nerves. It´s just used too often.

Some people just won´t accept that they got no chanche ;)

^ I second that.

Usually, when someone goes all-in in poker and you have the best possible hand (royal flush, baby!), and you call and get called a noob for calling with a royal, it's absolutely hilarious.

What does get my goat is when people say things are 'uber', or alternatively, are 'meh'.

Everyone is new at a game at some point or other, so why is the term being used derogatively? It's this kind of geekishness that gives gaming a bad name.
