Assassin's Creed III question

Ok so my friend just gave me a copy of Assassin's Creed III for the Wii U but I have never played any other in the series so should I watch

some video's to catch me up on the story or just play without knowing anything?

@fexal: I'd highly recommend catching up on the previous story events, otherwise you'll be so lost.

@mastermetal777: Well I have a very high end pc along with my Wii U and it is only 25$ on amazon to get assassin's creed 1, 2, botherhood, and revelations so I figure might as well just spend the 25$ and play the whole thing and buy the other games later when I get to that point
