It isn't hard to see that less and less games are coming out for the GameCube. They are also have worse quality. I think the Wii killed the GameCube, which sucks, because the Wii seems like a fun system. Any ideas for good games in the future or for what will finally happen to the GameCube?

Afraid so, since the Wii launch, I see lots of people selling their GameCube console. After these are all gone, I think it's going to be game over for the gamecube. It's far easier to have the Wii which can connect to the internet, let you play all your GC and Wii games, provide channels for news, weather, etc. while the GC can't do all that...

Get a Wii. It will play your GC games anyway, so even if something good does come out you will be covered.

The Gamecube died back in like late 2004 or early 2005. RE4 and Loz TP were just a couple of muscle spasms.

Every system 'dies' in the sense that they are no longer manufactured, no new games are developed, and the resale value drops. It's just a matter of time. Although I feel that, just like previous systems it will always be played. I still play my NES, Genesis, SNES, 64, GameCube, and XBox...even though I have an XBox 360.

Guys, think about it. Every company has to make a system that beats its predecessor. Or more than one. Look at how Nintendo deals with its Gameboys. And, even more, how Microsoft deals with computers. But not to worry. Think about this: on ign they're thinking Nintendo might actually do this: the system after DS (y'know, the next gen one, not the Lite), could play Gamecube games! Think about it! They're discs like the same size as PSP ones (not that I'd know, but around that size)... and so that could play it's own discs, GC discs, and DS cards! The Gamecube lives on!!!!!!!!!

Just as everyone else has stated in some form, the gamecube SYSTEM has died, but the games will live on.  There are many people around the world that still cherish their gamecube games and will surely play them forever.  SSBM is a great example; released six years ago and yet still hasn't died. If you look on the gamefaqs messageboards, SSBM is still the #1 Gamecube messageboard.

Technically Gamecube hasn't died because all GC games run on the Wii. All you need are GC controllers and memory cards.

Yes, the GameCube is going to die. Which is what I wish would happen to everyone who opened another one of these forum topics. Seriously, let's talk about something else that's GameCube-related.

I agree with you. It's like manyn things : you can tell it ilved when people used it, just like you older systems. Sure the Cube is dead, but I'll still be playing it, even if I get the Wii one day.

The system is close to being dead. Nintendo gave out a big message to everyone last year but releasing Zelda TP on the Wii before the cube version. The only last gen system which is doing well is the PS2 mainly because it still has such a large user base and games are still being released for it. Normally publishers are careful about changing production from one console to the next but I think with the cube many people felt that it was already dead in 2006.

The Dreamcast died ages ago and yet the odd  game still comes out but I really don't think that will happen for the Gamecube.

There are still many people who haven't gone over to next gen systems yet and if you look at the total of people who have bought either a Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 combined it doesn't add up to the total amount of gamers out there. I've not bought a Wii yet and probably won't until next year. I've got enough cube games to keep me happy until then.

And as everyone else has said the cube lives on in the Wii anyway.

Heheh, to put it quite simple, yes it will eventually vanish as any system before it has. Now its only logical if you think about it. Many thought Nintendo was bomb, then Super Nintendo was the **** and then 64 and so forth, but now with the Wii as a new and improved and innovative console I mean no doubt Cube will eventually vanish into the black abyss of the old systems. Of course it will always be in our memories thanks to games such as, Metroid Prime 1 and 2! Also of course we cannot forget Zelda: WW, & somewhat for TP, and for carrying on other fun games such as SSBM!!!! (Part 3 coming out soon CHA BOY!) So long live the Nintendo company! For its outstanding skills in inventing new and innovative ways to experience fun! :D

Stay cool, stay fresh, stay frosty

Gamecube will definitely die. Nintendo has already pulled the plug on it. I personally loved the gamecube and hate to see it go, but it's time to pass the torch on to the wii.

Whats with all of you? All systems "die" at some point. The NES is gone, the SNES is gone, the Genesis is gone, the 64 is gone, the Xbox is gone, the GC is gone, the PS2 will be gone sooner or later.

Eventually the 360, Wii, and PS3 will dry up once next-gen and people will ask stupid questions like is it dead?

Look you make the thing dead if you dont use it, I still use and play my GC so therefore it is not dead.

The console's dead, but the games are far from dead... thanks to the Wii. And I think it's a good thing that the Wii killed the Gamecube; it's just one more sign of its success.

GameCube will die, but it is not dead yet. It's been confirmed that the system is still in production and shipped to stores:

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=73353

http://www.n-sider.com/newsview.php?type=story&storyid=2652

http://www.gameindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=22998

Because of that fact and the fact that existing GameCube games from Nintendo are still being produced, Nintendo has not pulled the plug on the GC entirely. And new games are still going to be released for it, like Radio Allergy which I'm definitely going to buy when it's been released.

So until the GC is no longer being produced and zero games are being released for it, the GC is alive.

Eventually PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube will die off, but your best bet is to just get a Wii. I am buying one when I get payed in 2 weeks. Games will stop comming out for Gamecube, and it will only be Wii games.

The GameCube dies when no one plays it any more. So untill that day, no it's not dead. From an economic standpoint, however, it's rotting at this point.

I still remember the day I bought my cube and Pikmin..... sigh. But it still has a home under my TV, even though I have a Wii. I have this thing about playing games on their original platform whenever possible. And I have the gameboy player on it for when I want to see GBA games at 50".

That's sorta the whole point of the Wii.
