I'm just up to the second part of Fahrenheit 451. What an amazing book. If it wasn't for the clumsy sentances and dialogue (the actual dialogue is some of the best I'm read but the 'he said' part and what not can be very clumsy) it'd probably be the best writing I've ever read. Just amazing.
I have that.[QUOTE="The_Vampress"][QUOTE="kingkilla3"]50 a page?Foolz3h

ah, like that.Anyone here a fan of Tintin or Asterix?boom-mooI've seen some things around... mostly on TV.
[QUOTE="boom-moo"]Anyone here a fan of Tintin or Asterix?kingkilla3I've seen some things around... mostly on TV.I have every book in both series and I've read them over and over ever since a was a little kid. They fascinate me :)
The Asterix movies that have been recently done are a total eyeroll to me. Now Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are preparing a series of 3 movies about Tintin. Let's see how those come up.

The French Asterix was hilarious, parts captured the crazy humour imo, though parts fell really flat.
I remember seeing a french or belgium Tintin film when I was really young and it was just brilliant. I've tried desperately ever since to find it but to no avail. :(
Personally Ithink Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are quite possibly the two worst directors for Tintin. I can just imagine the over use of action and special effects as we speak! D:
The action in Tintin, to me anyway, was a very small part of the books.
The humour in the French Asterix wasn't bad, but it was lacking very much of the soul of the comic.
Do you really think that action is a very small part of the Tintin books? I think they are full of action, but I agree that special effects and so could ruin the story. However my favourite one is "The Castafiore Emerald" probably the one with less action of all of them. Gotta love Captain Haddock, the more pissed off the better :D
I gotta reckon that being obsessed as I am, no movie or director will ever reproduce what the books mean to me and how they are played in my mind once and again. I'm curious about what Spielberg and Jackson have in mind, though.

Billions of blue blistering barnacles! :D
There's definitely a lot of action but to me the best part of Tintin is the characters the political intrigue and the adventure of it! The action is great too but it's not the most important part to me.
How much do you read in a day?kingkilla3Ha! Bits and pieces, each time msn kicks me off, or somethin'

I'm guessing they're full of simple English which has been translated into simple Spanish.
Weeell, what's your favourite?

Well, the teacher did read. There were a few books, but I only remember one well.
Me too! How funny is it that when I wrote that you still hadn't told me about the 'kids' bit?*smiles* I think I learned something... kingkilla3
