Everyone with a Gameboy Advance or DS should have this.

Before I start with this review, I want to explain why I rated this game as "very hard". It's not Contra hard or Battletoads hard, but it's the only game where I damaged the system after losing. Also, it's only hard if you care about all your characters surviving.

Let's get started...but where? A little history with me and this game. Back when I bought this game, it was at a time where I didn't look into games as much as I do now before buying them, I didn't rationally buy games like now. A friend of mine recommended this game to me after he heard of it from SSB Melee. I did know anything about it, I had never played it, I had never seen any gameplay, I didn't even know the genre, but boy did this game leave a dent in my free time.

Basically you are controlling a battalion of warriors with different classes, skills with weapons, and stats, like any rpg. But the main thing that separates it from stuff like Pokemon and Final Fantasy, is the game is set up like a chess board. You can only move a certain amount of spaces per turn. Simple enough? Sure. Let's go to the positives:

The difficulty. There is nothing more annoying than an easy rpg/strategy, like Pokemon. This game delivers the perfect amount of toughness. Since you can only level up in the actual chapters, your team levels up in sync with the game. You won't have a god like unit against puny enemies. Every character will die at least once. And that's why this game is hard. Your characters do not return after they die...

The battle scenes. I'm glad to write this review after a sequel has been released on gba, and two 3-D versions on GC and Wii because the battle scenes got worse after the game turned 3-D. The little sprites' movements are so entertaining even after seeing them 300 times. Then when you get lucky on a critical hit, it is a mild suprise.

After reading what I just wrote, I see that this review seems a little confusing or stupid, but there's just so much to say about this game. It's simply amazing. I played through this game 3 times and would play it more if the game could hold more than 3 files. Get this game if you don't already have it. I plan to review the remake that's coming out for DS in Feb.
