The lack of two player co-op and a punishing difficulty level hardly make Final Fight recommendable.

User Rating: 6.5 | Final Fight SNES
Final Fight for the SNES was originally released in 1991, and for the most part the game was vastly inferior to its arcade counterpart. FF is one of many beat 'em up games that were released during the early 90s. This however does not make for a satisfying nostalgic experience.

When you first boot the game, you are given the back story; Jessica has been kidnapped. You choose from two characters: Cody and Haggar. Cody is a technical street fighter with fast combos, while Haggar is a brute with sheer manpower.

Game play itself could easily be described in one word: frustrating. From the start you are bombarded with hordes of thugs and goons. Your enemies, while not technically trained fighters, can be overwhelming to fight when there are 5 or 6 on screen at once. The "Andore" enemies are particularly tough to fight, and they can hit you when you are standing, or even when you are on the ground. The poor controls don't help the experience either, since the button press feels slightly delayed, especially when there are several enemies on screen.

The graphics are average, with the typical back-alley environments and underground train stations that you would expect from most games in the genre. The characters don't have too much variety, as most seem to be palette swaps. The games music is also annoying, since the tracks are looped, and don't seem to be much longer than 20-25 second durations.

Your 800 points are better off spent on another game; the lack of two player co-op and a punishing difficulty level hardly make Final Fight recommendable.
