the game's story isn't as deep or overwhelming as ffx, but it does make up for it in what it has to bring in new.

first flaw is, unlike the previous story plotlines where its about love or finding one's self, 12's plotline in a nutshell is basically politics. with that out of the way, the game's battle system in my opinion is truely something good. its like ATB (for those who dont know active time battle) but more in a real time setting.in this way you could just leave your controller down, take a leak or eat while watching the game's AI do battle. but of course you cant just let the game control everything since you need to use the 'gambit' system. a la junction from 8 and materia from 7 for those familiar. it'll take a while to get the hang of it but once you do its pretty much a breeze.

item hunting again is ever present here, with the loots from fallen monsters a plenty. and since you cant get gil from them once slain unlike previous installments money farming here is very hard at the beginning. i would say leveling up or grinding is very important in this game to make it easier, but thats your choice. on the extras side there's quite a number of bonus bosses to slay. 2 of them are notable ones from final fantasy 5. and there's dozens of 'marks' to slay as well but the ones on the top of the list, more notably the last few ones are true ultimate bosses since the others are just easy kills. but thats up to you again.
