Join Cloud on his mission to save the planet and face the ghost of his past.

User Rating: 8 | Final Fantasy VII PS
"8.0 IS HE MAD?!" is what you must be thinking. But that's right, this game is simply an 8.0 to me. Why? Because simply put Final Fantasy 7 is a great game, no doubt, but it obviously is not in the best in the series. Anyways, on to the review.

The story is simple, you're Cloud, an ex-SOLDIER, now mercenary for hire bent on doing anything for a quick buck. You start off by joining AVALANCHE, a group bent on destroying Mako Reactors simply for the sake of blowing them up...no seriously they blow them up because they're destroying the planet. Anyways, with this, the start of Cloud's adventure of destroying Shin-ra and facing his mortal enemy comes to light.

The battle system is easy, it's the usual ATB system however there's the new materia system. Each armor, weapon have slots in which you can place Materia. Materica can range from Cure spells to Bolt. Certain slots are linked making Materia such as All give the option of targeting All enemies or party members. Materia also level up, eventually that Cure spell is gonna become Cure3 and Fire will become Fire3 etc. Making stronger and better materia by gaining ABP from battles. There's also the Limit Break system, where these bars fill up and characters can then execute powerful "desperation" moves on enemies. Each character has their own and they're are a total of 4 levels for Limit Breaks, earning them requires certain conditions such as defeating a certain amount of enemies or using it a certain amount of times.

Graphically, Final Fantasy 7 is ugly. Course this was back in the day when FF7 was the first 3D FF, so it's not too bad I suppose...but to be honest, it's just really really terrible to look at by today's standard. But I'm not one to judge, I don't care much for graphics but for reviews sake, I'll just let the reader know that if you don't mind the graphics, then FF7 is just perfect for you.

Overall, FF7 is a solid RPG, but let's face it's beyond overrated and as an FF fan, there are much better games in the series.
