If you are looking for a certain Guild Wars game to jump into, this may, or may not be it. The great thing about Guild Wars expansions is that they are all "stand alone" and can be played without the original. (Not Eye of the North)
However if you are considering jumping in for the first time, I would suggest trying out the Original or even Nightfall before this one.

Guild War Factions brings 2 new classes to the game along with its own unique storyline. Some additional skills have also been added. The game is pretty much the same as the original with new additions. The new music so soothing, it has the power to put you to sleep.

As you can already guess from the title, Guilds will have to side with one of two Factions, allowing access to exclusive armor, quests...etc. Guilds may also create alliances with other guilds within the same Faction. Towns can now be bought by guilds who obtain enough points to buy them, which creates new borders on global map.

Factions was made to create a more PvP atmosphere. You sometimes get the urge to take part in the new PvP battlegrounds, only to find out there's not enough players, or gets rather old quickly. Players usually find there's more reward outside the battles, and soon forget about it. (I'm glad there's plenty of other PvP gameplay modes.)

Guild Wars Factions is a good game overall, but definitely not the best one out of the bunch. The game is worth finishing, if you are into titles (achievements) or just looking for a new experience.
I recommend buying the Guild Wars Trilogy!
