Lazy, flawed, unpolished, hollow. It's still FIFA, but with no lasting appeal...

EA have let themselves down big time this summer. Through the turbulent ups and downs of their 20 years of FIFA, one thing has always stood out, the attention to detail. With a game composing of just 53 teams, these little details become even more important and this add on falls down on many of these details. The add-on is a whopping €20 and it's incredibly hard to see how this is justifiable. With no gameplay improvements and few game modes, this title has very little to offer. The most enjoyable aspect of the 2010 World Cup title was of course the online World Cup. However the issue of players simply selecting 5 Star teams has not been even broached by EA and with fewer teams to choose from, it becomes much more infuriating this year. For example, I recently played a group where my THREE opponents were Portugal.

The new expedition mode will surely be a once off, as it is basically a dumbed down version of Ultimate Team, but as you already have FIFA 12, why bother.

The commentary has changed very little so be too disappointed when you hear Andy Townsend say exactly the same things he did already.

Also, and the reasoning behind this is beyond me, it is not possible to play online matches unless you do so in the full tournament mode. This also means you cannot play an online friendly against a friend.

Overall, nice presentation and it can be enjoyable to play the odd tournament, but you'll be back on proper FIFA within a day or two...
