An extraordinary piece of work

User Rating: 8.8 | Field Commander PSP
Field Commander was one of my most wanted games this year so far. I saw developer interviews, trailers and more making me more convinced buying this game.
My expectations are fulfilled.

You play a turn-based strategy wargame controlling units on land, sea and air.

The part I'm concentrating on is the multiplayer part. The game has four (4) different types of multi play.
Two of them are as all other PSP with online play, Ad Hoc and Infrastructure. I won't comment on them in this review.
The other two are Hot Swap and Transmission.
Hot Swap is when two players share the same PSP console, just hand over the PSP after your move and it's your opponents turn. A very nice game type when living in summer cottage, tent, boat or other small and nice environments. I play this type with my oldest son.
Transmission is the turn-based chess-type of gameplay. You connect to the internet and select a game or host your own. Then you wait for an opponent to do his/her thing. You don't need to be online all the time, only to check if it is your turn. This makes it a little slow but if that's what you like then it's perfect. I play this a lot. You don't need much attention to the game; pick up your PSP, turn it on, go online and check if it is your turn, make your move and log off.
That's it.
