Welcome to the apocalyptic edition of GameSpotting, in which our editors spill their guts about games and everything...one final time. Yes, that's right. After nearly four years of weekly installments, GameSpotting is done. "Why," you ask. "Why must this mortal coil torture me thus, as to wrest my beloved GameSpotting from my heart and body? Alas! Would that I could have been cut down in my prime instead!" Oh, go on now, dry those tears, sonny boy. It's not like we won't continue taking time out of your busy schedule to regale you with litanies of complaints and occasionally-involuntary insights about gaming. It just isn't going to happen here anymore, because this old place, it has passed. Thanks for joining us as we put GameSpotting out to pasture, proper.

Confessions of a Poseur
Greg Kasavin/Executive Editor
"At the end of the day, I still have no compelling evidence to suggest that I'm capable of being a game designer--even a bad one."

You Are Being Lied To
Jeff Gerstmann/Senior Editor
"If this business is going to keep on taking money away from the movie and TV business, it needs to be aiming higher than reflective surfaces and two tons of light bloom."

When Looks Aren't Enough
Andrew Park/Senior Editor
"Stop me if you've heard this before, but the way a game looks is important."

Déjà Vu
Ricardo Torres/Senior Editor
"I think the competition between the next generation of platforms may end up feeling a lot like the now-classic battle between the Super Nintendo and the Genesis back in the 16-bit day."

Casual Every Day
Alex Navarro/Associate Editor
"If there's one thing I hear more often than anything else out of the hardcore gaming set (and it upsets me to no end), it's one tirade or another about how much they hate casual gamers. You know? People like me."

When Games Go on Vacation
Ryan Davis/Associate Producer
"Just what the hell are you supposed to do with all your video game systems during the dry summer months?"

Jumped the Gun
Brad Shoemaker/Associate Editor
"Microsoft is forcibly birthing the next-next big thing sooner rather than later."

E3 Like a Bat Out of Hell
Jason Ocampo/Associate PC Editor
"All Tor could do was whoop it up and holler as every little detail came in about how the consoles kick ass. But you know what? I'm not taking it any longer."

The Art of the Remix
Brian Ekberg/Sports Editor
"Imagine a Mario Bros. game as designed by Hideo Kojima. How would playing the next Madden NFL game change if you mixed in Valve's vaunted Half-Life 2 physics model?"

Previews of Games That Don't Exist #3
Justin Calvert/Associate Editor
"Since The Streets Of is a game that exists only in my own mind, it seems reasonable to assume that the following preview is a GameSpot exclusive."

The E3 Me
Carrie Gouskos/Associate Editor, Mobile Games
"If E3 is supposed to be about video games, why does all the E3 fluff seem so tempting?"

The Social Animal
Steve Palley/Chief Editor, Mobile Games
"We can infer a lot about the stereotypical gamer simply by looking at the types of products that have won the money race over the past few years, putting on our Masters in Business Administration caps and working backwards."

Next-Gen Gripes
Avery Score/Assistant Editor, Mobile Games
"While transitioning to the next generation of hardware, console manufacturers have announced plans to strip their new systems of features and functionality we'd taken for granted."

Next-Gen Controllers
Matthew Rorie/Game Guides Editor
"One of the most intriguing aspects of the upcoming console generation, at least for me, involves the controllers."

Fuel to Feed the Next-Gen Fire
Greg Mueller/Associate Editor
"There are dozens of factors that contribute to the success or failure of a system launch. But in the end, any gamer will tell you that it's not the color of the box, the shape of the controller, or the system specs that sell a console. It's the games."

Interface Issues
Kurt Collins/Associate Software Engineer
"It's ridiculous to think that while games have changed drastically over the years, we've somehow managed to get rid of intuitive interfaces in favor of more-complicated setups involving multiple keyboard configurations and seven-button mice."

An Open Letter to Fanboys
Adam Buchen/Associate Software Engineer
"As long as you ignore the rules of logic and sensibility, you will never have to worry about whether or not you made a good investment. That sure helps all the insecurity go away, doesn't it?"
