Tecmo´s first attempt at the Survival Horror genre is a resounding success

The Survival Horror genre once pioneered by Alone in the Dark and further advanced by Capcom´s Resident Evil series, has been, as of late, being overcrowded by several others debutants without much success. Tecmo entered the fray with it´s Fatal Frame series (Project Zero overseas), and the result has been short of perfect. Taking a completely different aproach to the Resident Evil series, Fatal Frame sets the player in the role a frail teen, her only defense, a antique photographic camera imbued with the power to weaken and defeat the ghost that haunt the decrepit masion she has set out to explore in search of her brother. The game´s achieves a sense of uneasiness and fear that very few games have ever captured. Although the camera mechanic may seem minimalist when compared to other games´ arsenal, it actually accentuates the feeling of vulnerability of the main character, and in turn that of the player.

A great story (based on actual japanese folklore), a long adventure and special extra modes, guaranties a must have for all player that dare jouney into the dephts of the Himuro mansion.
