Lacks the needed depth

User Rating: 5 | Farming Simulator X360

A title like this needs to appeal on a level that will reward the small player base interested in the subject matter. Sadly, there is virtually no depth to the game to actually put one into the mindset of either a farm for fun (a hobby farm) or as a business. No one area is fleshed out enough to entertain.
You can grow a small handful of things, or have minimal interaction with livestock, or be the town go-fer and do missions- but none offer anything but a scratching of the surface of what should be much deeper gameplay. Choosing to focus on livestock, for example, never progresses beyond the same two or three activities associated with the animal type, regardless of whether you own 5 pets or 1000 head herd. Owning a sprayer completely negates the need for half the game- you won't need cows, mowers, tedders, windrowers, bailers, bail collectors, fertilizer movers, front end loaders and associated buckets- just by using a sprayer filled right at your farm.
You can hire people to plow, sow and harvest, but not drive alongside the combine at a snail's crawl to collect grain? No farm hand or teenager to send to move lawns rather than the head of a farming operation?
A 3 minute mowing mission pays more than an entire field that I spend a half hour tending/harvesting.

The focus is clearly on collecting and driving farm vehicles, but sub-par graphics and bad physics make the game feel much more like a kid's Tonka title given away as promotional material than a game costing money. The physics really become an issue when doing precision work like moving pallets. I cannot find an option to invert the camera axis- small things like that really hurt Farm Sim on consoles.

As tedious as actual farming is, this game needs to be MORE lost in minutia to justify the word 'sim' in the title. As is, calling it a budget title is generous. It gets a 5 because it's stable and being essentially the only title of it's kind, is by definition 'average'.
