Where is all the wildlife?

User Rating: 7.5 | Far Cry 2 X360
Unfortunately graphics alone cannot carry this adventure with its lack lustre story and a beautiful world which most of the time feels like a vacant warehouse.

Even being a big shooter fan the excitement of the well designed and varied hardware at your disposal in FAR CRY 2 loses its shine rather quickly as much of your time is spent travelling between locations rather than using it. I assume the game designers did this is allow you to see the wonderfully crafted game world ..........the graphics are top notch and the sound exceptional ..............but there is almost no wildlife. This is really disappointing and here lies the true problem with FC2; too much has been forgotten about. The game world is too vacant, there is little wildlife and no civilians in any of the towns on the map. The only characters are militia men and mercenaries. The buddy characters are also all too generic .......they lack the feel of living dynamic beings ........games which successfully manage this are FABLE 2, FALLOUT 3 & the new Prince of Persia.

The storyline is also not anything that is going to grab you and make you want to find out what comes next.

There is simply not enough to the gameplay, it always feels like your doing the same thing and besides gunning guys down or being chased by mercenaries in Jeeps or on check points there is very little interaction with the game world. This is a pity as there is so much potential here.

I remember Ubisoft during interviews and demo walkthrough's touting the 50 sq km African Savannah they are created and the opportunity players would have to explore it ...............but the truth is ...... most of it is BARON of life and there is really nothing to explore aside from miles of deserted plains with the occasional Zebra or Antelope.
