Family Guy The Game manages to make you laugh but fails to make an impact gameplay-wise
Well, Family Guy The Game has got to be one of the most comic adventure, beat-em-up type game. It has all elements that other games provide (shooting, sneaking, fighting) and it pretty much combines it and actually does a pretty good job of it.
Each character from the Family Guy series have their own storyline which you get to play through. You can play as Stewie, Brian or Peter.
Peter:
Basically, you go around punching and kicking people and this gets rather frustrating after a while. It can be quite fun at the start but gets very old within a few minutes.
Brian:
Brian probably has the best storyline in the game. The stealthy aspects this game offers is very solid and well presented. You have to sneak through prisons, men's shower-rooms and other various places in order to find who made your girlfriend become pregnant. It's actually quite fun sneaking about but it's almost like you can predict what's gunna happen. It's so easy really.
Stewie:
Stewie has a somewhat crazy and epic storyline.
Your getting revenge on your half brother and he wants to get revenge on you. Stewie's enemy starts sending an army of baby-soldiers to exterminate Stewie and it can be very cool going around shooting everyone. You also get the oppurtunity to enter Peter's body and go inside killing germs.
Graphics:
The graphics were okay. At some points they look good but at other times a bit too messed-up, sometimes even freaky. It woulda been better if they made it more 2D-ish and cell-shaded it to give that 3D effect.
Presentation:
Very poor, there are points in which the camera angles are fixed and can be difficult to look around to see what's ahead. This can cause you to lose many times and can be very annoying.
Humour:
Of course it's a Family Guy product, so it's bound to have some laugh-out loud comedy moments. There's a lot of it here and you WILL laugh no matter what. It's really good humour so that's one of the reasons why you should play this game.
Controls:
They feel sometimes a bit weird, and a lot of buttom mashing is required but overall it's alright.
I'd definitely recommend all Family Guy fans to purchase this, otherwise try renting it and if you like it, buy the full game.
