It is just Fallout enough to be bearable.

Thank God for the multiplayer feature, that made it a little more fun. I played through the whole game as Cain and Cyrus. I have also unlocked all three of the secret characters. It's a good game, but I have to use that term loosely... In it's own right it is not superb by any means. In fact, I would never have been attracted to this game if it didn't have Fallout stamped right the hell on it. And Fallout it is, indeed. The game is very different in gameplay, but overall, the leveling system, the UI, they're somewhat familiar... The gritty post-apocalyptic setting we all know and love... and the dark humor. They're all selling points for this game, and the series in general. And of course there's a prostitute. Harold the Ghoul also makes his appearance in the game (as he does in all Fallout games). But what is there to say about it? The game play is recycled, dungeon crawler formula after formula... Get quest, kill monsters/people/hand in quest item or talk to quest giver, get money. The game is like that for quite a while until you get to the city of Los, where it actually sort of develops a story to speak of. I don't know... It certainly is a fun, almost necessary visit into the Fallout universe and it prepared me for how vastly different Fallout 3 may be.. I've heard some harsh criticism of this game, and I don't necessarily disagree with all of it, but like most decent games, it should be given a chance. It is just Fallout enough to be bearable.
