"The best expansion for one of the best RPGs on the PC is definitely worth a look at by any fans of the game."

User Rating: 8 | Fallout 3: Broken Steel PC
The expansion Broken Steel for Fallout 3 is yet another one in a line of five other addons, and this one is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best one in both value and content. Broken Steel adds so much more to the core game and it does it on several pivotal levels that will certainly make fans of the game very happy. The other expansions for Fallout 3 have been relatively mediocre making them somewhat hard to recommend in some respects, but Broken Steel happens to be the easiest one to recommend.

Due to the fact that this "game" is not really a game but an expansion to another game, I will divert from writing in my standard review writing formula. Instead I will write one detailed paragraph outlining the pros and cons of the content. And please note, for those of you players who have not yet beaten Fallout 3, there are spoilers if you read further. As I mentioned, Broken Steel adds so much more to the core game and these particular things make this expansion the best one available. Firstly, once you install the addon and begin playing either a new game or one already used you will get a message in-game saying that the addon has added ten levels to the regular level cap. That in it of itself is superb because level twenty was fairly easy to reach even without the help of experience perks, but thirty makes it a little more challenging. And speaking of perks, Bethesda added several new (and excellent) perks to the game to make someone want to keep going to hit thirty. Some of these perks provide the player with some redemption concerning the player's karma and even Dogmeat. As if the raised level cap was not enough, Bethesda made it possible for the player to continue playing the game after the main game has ended, and this is really where the actual expansion's main game comes into play. It can only be accessed after the main game is long over, but Broken Steel's extra loot like the heavy incinerator to name one can be found at any time during the game. The fact that you can continue the game makes things much nicer for those of you who were a little shocked when the game ended for good. Now you can continue to explore and level up. The last thing about Broken Steel is the exceptional loot that can be found. Aside from some new weapons like the prior mentioned heavy incinerator, there are some new suits of armor and even a new powerful heavy weapon called the Tesla Cannon. Broken Steel's main game takes the player along with the Brotherhood of Steel who are trying to root out the last remnants of the Enclave. The main game, like its brother expansions, is not too terribly long, but due to the fact that there is so much more this addon does like with the level cap makes it totally worth it. And to sweeten this addon even further, you will have the opportunity to see something in action that has been fought over during the whole core main game. All in all Broken Steel is the absolute best, most recommendable expansion to Fallout 3 because of the level cap increase and the ability to keep playing the game after it is all over.

Ultimately Broken Steel is the best expansion if I did not make that clear enough before. If you must buy a Fallout 3 expansion then you must certainly look for Broken Steel, and you may just find that bundled with a second expansion for $19.99 at a local Gamestop. The best expansion for one of the best RPGs on the PC is definitely worth a look at by any fans of the game.
