Strong character customization and fast-paced combat; vast crafting and harvesting features; excellent growth mechanisms

User Rating: 9 | Fallen Earth: Welcome to the Apocalypse PC
The best thing about Fallen Earth is that it's unique, so don't expect it to feel like any other MMORPG you've played.

As far as features go, Fallen Earth has an amazing growth system. Although it's very simple, it still provides a massive degree of different builds. The game focuses on two main aspects of growth: raising skills and raising the limits of those skills. Every time the character gains a certain amount of experience inside a level, he/she is rewarded 2 skill points to spend. When the character gains an actual experience level, all of his/her stats and skill limits will be increased. This is really great because you can specialize your character in one or two aspects of the game, and advance quickly.

Another forte of the game is the crafting and harvesting. While there are almost -too many- different items in the game, players are able to substitute certain items in for others, which makes crafting recipes much easier. For example, you can craft the same piece of clothing using different animal hides. For players who enjoy crafting in MMORPGs, Fallen Earth offers you a lot.

The combat works well in this game. Instead of having to take half a minute to kill one enemy, sometimes you can do it in 3-4 seconds, even if they're a higher level than you. As far as the guns go, there are some drawbacks; at lower levels, guns seem somewhat inaccurate, as the crosshair is not that tight. However, it seems that the higher your gun skills are, the tighter the crosshair is. Also, while Fallen Earth is advertised as a "FPS" or a hybrid of FPS/RPG, it feels more like a RPG than an actual shooter, especially with the early guns. Still, it doesn't mean the game isn't fast-paced or fun to shoot stuff in.

Bottom line: I rate this game very high. As of now, there are still bugs waiting to be crushed by the developers, and there are some occasional server crashes, but the game seems to be functioning fine 95% of the time. All in all, Fallen Earth has been a great entry into the MMORPG community, and it's only a matter of time before more features, content, and stability are affixed to the game.
