Fable is a game filled to the brim with imagination, fun, and life. A must-play RPG indeed.

Everything starts out innocent enough. In Fable you start out as a young boy who must buy his sister a birthday present by earning gold from doing good tasks for your father or helping people do bad stuff. But after a certain tragedy (you should find out yourself) is taken in by the heroes' guild. As you grow to be an adult you can decide whether to be a beloved hero or a feared villain as you take part in good and/or evil quests on a path to get back for said tragedy. The story is a grand tale indeed and is highly replayable.

In Fable you can be anything really. You can even get haircuts and facial hair as wanted. You can get tattoos, get married, change clothes and weapons, and so much more. It's crazy what you can do. You can even get fat by eating too much. It keeps track of lots of random crap too, as you can see the farthest you've ever kicked a chicken in the menu.

The main quest isn't that long, but add in farting around and/or doing side quests can keep you busy for a solid chunk of time. Also, going back and being evil instead of good (or vice-versa) adds replayability.

Combat is very good and is pretty fluid. You equip either melee (black button) or ranged (white) and lock on with the left trigger. X is to attack, while B is like a critical hit. With arrows, clicking the left stick zooms in where you can manually aim for decapitations via headshots.

During combat, hotkeys are very intuitive. The D-pad has some stuff, and the face buttons have their corresponding command. When you are low on health or mana, a potion for whatever's low (or food if you are out of healing potions) will automatically show on the D-pad. Also, by holding the right trigger, you can se you favorite items on the D-pad and spells on the face buttons. If you have many spells, you can flip through them with the Y button. Very nice stuff.

Fable also sports some great graphics. Sure there is a relatively cartoony style, but shadows show on your character, and everything is just very detailed, if not a little bit too shiny. Since I was running on emulators on a 360, the framerate was slightly low at points and load screens seem longer than on regular xbox. But either way it's a beautiful game. It's nice to see your character grow older and eventually get gray hair.

Hearing all the people call you by the nickname you buy, ranging from the default 'Chicken Chaser' , to things like 'Runemaster' or 'Liberator' is neat. Paired with good sound effects and a nice soundtrack, the sound in Fable is top-notch.

In closing, buy this game. It rocks.
