A Sequel That Stands On It's Own

User Rating: 9 | Fable II X360
So many sequels pick up where the previous episode left off, not the case with Fable II. Fable II happens centuries after the original Fable and though there are elements of this game that are similar to the original, it is very much an original in it's own right.

First what I didn't like. I found the use of weapons easy but yet difficult. I know that sounds oxymoronic, but you just press the corresponding button with the weapon you want to use and start to hack and slash, yet aiming is hap hazard at best. Switching targets seems random. Mostly it defaults to the closest target, but not always and it is that randomness in target switching that can get you in trouble when being mobbed; and when you are mobbed it is at times difficult to tell where you are.

What I liked. Like the original Fable every action you take has consequences that either make you Good or Evil; but 2 takes it up a notch by even making the food you eat have consequences. My character became rather portly by the end of the game.

Another thing that 2 has that the original did not is Quests to perform after the main quest if fullfilled. In the original Fable once the main quest was done, you where done. Oh, you could wonder Albian and do minor little things, but no quests. It's nice to have some additional game play after all is said and done.

Fable II successfully carries the torch of one of the most fun and exciting Action Role-playing games ever created. Fans of the orginal Fable will enjoy this sequel.
