This series used to give me nightmares. Now all it's been reduced to is a solid shooter.

F.E.A.R. is probably one of my most favorite games in the horror genre of games. When I played the first F.E.A.R. for the first time it was probably the creepiest most terrifying experience in my life. Now let's jump to F.E.A.R. 2, (I'm going to skip EP & PM), which was kind of scary but meh.. didn't have anything in it that would keep me up at night. The second installment was terrible in more ways than just not being scary though. So I had high hopes the third game would improve in all the categories. In essence it did. The game-play is a million times better. The graphics are pretty good, (don't listen to all the whiners about it being ugly because it really isn't). The sound isn't bad, Fettel's voice acting is like the first two games, superb. The multiplayer is absolutely awesome. The enemy AI is crazy good and can be a challenge to deal with. Now let's get to the negative points this game has. First let's start with the story; it is god awful. I mean it follows F.E.A.R. 2 well but it never really explains how Point Man got captured by Armacham or anything. The story is downright stupid and really has nothing to do with Alma. Its basically about Fettel and Point Man's past and the fate of the child and that's it. The biggest issue for me was the lack of scares. I mean nothing in this game ever made me jump or like look around my room and make sure there wasn't anything spooky behind me. It was turned into a watered down solid shooter like CoD or BF. Despite these bad areas of the game it was still a very fun experience. If anyone enjoys a good FPS then this is worth picking up. If you're looking for a scary game to give you some jumps then this game is not for you.
