An exciting racing game full of tracks, racers and thrill
Excitebike is one of the few racing games that are full of originality and creativity. During the game you will find indoor and outdoor courses, all of them are challenging and beautifully designed, full of jumps, traps and when outdoor natural obstacles.
The game is divided in three cups, each one with a good amount of races, in completely different scenarios, that can vary from a desert to an icy mountain or a forest. All cups have great AI enemies and are hard to beat, but at the same time the game never gets hard to the point of frustration
Besides the basic one-player and multiplayer modes there is also a mode that is full of awesome unlockables Mini-Games, you will run into a classic version of the game, for NES, a mountain bike challenge, and even play soccer with your bikes. There is also the famous time trial mode and a place where you can create your own tracks and race in them!!
The Graphics are great, although some scenario details and the motorcycles could be better in addition to it you will see some serious frame rate drop while performing tricks and when the race starts.
Gameplay is great, is so easy to control the bikes, very different from that bundle of racing games. The controls answer perfectly and are so simple that anybody can play it easily.
The background music in this game could be more thrilling and higher as we are talking a sports game, but unfortunately it doesn't happen, however the narrator voice screaming while you perform a great trick and the cheers from the crowd are just as thrilling as a good soundtrack.
The Value gets 10 because this game has so modes and extras that is hard not to try to play it again and get all secrets unlocked, all medals, improve records and so on.
This all being said, Excitebike is in Nintendo 64 top-3 racing games, it has small flaws here and there, but nothing that would compromise a good and solid game.
