Classic arcade shooter re-invented

User Rating: 8.5 | Riff: Everyday Shooter PS3
Everyday Shooter is a simple yet addictive game. The idea is to move your little circle around with the left analog stick, and shot the other oddly shaped enemies using the right analog stick. Sounds simple huh? Well not so much, as you make your way to the end of a level you'll become overwhelmed with how hectic this game can be. Enemies swarm around leaving you trapped in a corner, and some enemies cant even be destroyed. The key is to wait until you see a shape that will cause a chain reaction and wait until the enemies are near it and destroy it. If you're good enough, you can trigger a chain reaction that'll wipe out 95% of the enemies on screen, which can be very satisfying. Some enemies will drop little dots in which you can pick up to earn points. With these points you can buy things from the little shop they have, such as extra lives, trippy screen effects, and levels. My only gripe is that you cant upgrade your weapon so you're stuck using the same little gun you began with even when things get rough. The music in this game is excellent. It's very soothing, and you would think a game like this would have a heavy metal, rock style of music, but in fact, its the very opposite and it works perfectly. Destroying enemies, picking up the little dots, and even scrolling up on the main menu will trigger a guitar riff that plays with the music in the background. Its a nice little touch. with so much going on in this game, its hard to believe one guy created it. And costing only $10, you get a lot of bang for your buck. Definitely one of the best games on the PSN. Everyone who owns a PlayStation 3 should check this out.
