NBA2K5 had potential.

NBA2K5 has some great graphics, nice control system, and great camera angles, but major problems abound....

SEGA decided to keep every aspect of its create-a-player feature, unfortunately for us. You get to choose between 7 faces, with no ability to customize any feature, a few skins colors, some really BAD hairstyles and awful hair colors. Not that it matters because if you choose anything besides a buzz-cut your player will appear with an afro in game. You do on the other hand get to customize every aspect of your shoes.....yes, shoes.

The Create-a-team feature is thrown together just like in every other sporting game.

Season mode is not interactive enough. A laughable attempt was made to have you "play coach", after every week a player will enter your "office" and ask you a question, you then are suppose to choose an appropriate response. The wrong response causes team chemistry to go down, the correct response will cause chemistry to go up. The Season mode menus are also somewhat confusing to navigate.

All of these problems would be OK, we have dealt with the same problems in every sports game, if it wasn't so EASY. I still blow out teams by 30 points or more on the hardest difficulty. I am able to steal the ball AT WILL. It sucks all the fun out of the game.

There is a huge opportunity for someone to make a game that addresses these problems that exist in almost every sporting game....from Maddens broken create-a-playbook feature, to lazy create-a-player modes. Developers let the same problems go unresolved every year. Disgusting
