"Eschatos" delivers pure fun for every arcade scroller fan, but is quite short which is a letdown.

Arcade scrollers (shooters) are going on a decline nowadays for some reason and it is always nice to see another game from this genre.
"Eschatos" is basically a pseudo 3d remake of an old arcade game, called "Judgement Silversword" (This and "Cardinal Sin" original game is included on disc as well)
"Eschatos" is kept simple by letting you use only 3 weapons which are available by default. Many such shooters were plagued with unnecessary weapons and frustrations because once you die you had to get all the power-ups again and end up dying again because of lack of firepower.
"Eschatos" is free of that. All that is needed - a quick reaction and skill. Ship is easy to control. Enemies are simplistic but boss fights are quite interesting. Also sometimes the game changes the screen to pseudo 3d system which in a way is it's downfall because it is very hard to avoid bullets and target enemies while your ship gets lost in the textures under some big mean boss and your firepower directs itself not where you want it to be. If not counting this flaw the game is quite good.
Soundtrack deserves separate praise. Tracks remind of the old arcade times. Simple but memorable.
Unfortunately the game though being hard lasts less than an hour and once you beat it you will definitely will be puzzled (What? It is already over?). However the game has an interesting aspect. Score acts like experience points and your options level up the more you play. Unfortunately it is hard to see what really opens since the game is *** only.
In overall it is a fun game to spend an hour or so while waiting for your favorite movie to begin or something else. Or just to lift your spirits when you're feeling down or bored.
