While cute and briefly entertaining, the novelty wanes with your attention span.

User Rating: 1.3 | Elf Bowling 1 & 2 GBA
This cart contains ports of two freely downloadable flash games, the original Elf Bowling, and Elves in Paradise. The first game has you at the North Pole for some serious holiday inspired bowling. Play is brainnlessly simple, like the original, and just a matter of timing. You only need to worry about pushing that A button. There no skill involved whatsoever, you simply wait until you line up the lit arrows with the pins you want to hit and press that button. You don't build power, you don't aim, nothing. Just press that button and you'll likely get a strike. It's not difficult at all. The second game in this cart, Elves in Paradise, introduces 2 player play. This game occurs on a cruise ship and has you playing shuffleboard on deck. If your elf falls off, there's a hungry shark waiting for him. Again, play is just a matter of timing and pressing that A button.

The graphics of both games look almost the same as their flash counterpart, albeit pixelated and lacking detail. When you see an elf's head rip off, you only have a very teensy fountain of blood. It's also difficult to see the damage they receive after being hit with the bowling ball. The graphic violence is one of the main appeals the original game ever had, so it's a huge letdown. The scaling for the second game isn't smooth at all, making it worse to behold in comparison.

The sounds of both are also taken from the game, Santa's laughter, the elves screams. They aren't as crisp as the original, so they don't sound that great at all. Just consider yourself lucky there's no background music. You know it wouldn't have been good. There are no additional modes of play, unlockables, or even a high score table. They're both just ugly ports you can take on the go to relieve your holiday hatreds. Seriously, though, what's the point?

Overall, this game is not worth any price. And while the thought of torturing elves can appeal to many, the fun of this title lasts about the first three turns before the sickness sets in of you actually paying money for this. it' very ugly compared to the original flash game that had a much better price, being free. If they redesigned the mechanics adding power, steering, or even more interesting obstacles or environmental effects - heck, why not throw in some other awful flash games as well - this game might have been actually worth a few dollars to the random few who like these sorts of games. As it stands, it's just an awful port of awful games made only to offer brief amusement as it circulates the office network.
